Petunia, also known as shuttlecock flower, dwarf trumpet, Bidong eggplant, etc., is a perennial herb of Solanaceae, with large and many flowers, blooming flourishing, long flowering period and rich colors, often making excellent flower beds and planting bowls of flowers, as well as natural cluster planting, can also be used as cut flowers, suitable climate or greenhouse cultivation can blossom all the year round. Let's take a look at the seed price and planting method of Petunia.

How much is the petunia seed?

The price of petunia seeds is generally about 80,100 yuan per jin, but the price varies greatly due to different seed quality and varieties, such as 600 yuan and 700 yuan per jin for imported petunia with multiple flowers and mixed colors. The seeds of petunia are very small and are long-sunshine plants. The growing period requires sufficient sunshine. Under normal light conditions, it takes about 100 days from sowing to flowering.

What kinds of petunia do you have?

1. Merlin: single dense flower variety, plant height 25 cm, early flower species, strong branching, variety of flowers and colors.

2. Super: early flower species, suitable for outdoor cultivation, large flowers, flower diameter of 10 cm.

3. Blind beads: the flower diameter is 10 cm, the petals have dark veins, and the colors are orange, blue, pink, purple and so on.

4. Carpet: single multi-flowered variety, heat-resistant variety, strong branching, compact flowers.

5. Falcon: dwarf species, plant height 10 cm, flower diameter 9 cm, many colors.

Sowing method of Petunia

1. Time: Petunia can be sown and raised seedlings all the year round in the protected areas of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. because the florescence is generally controlled on May Day and National Day, it is sown in autumn from October to November and in spring from June to July.

2. Utensils: the seeds of petunia are very small and can be sown with a burrowing plate in principle. However, it is recommended that we do not use the acupoint plate, because the acupoint plate is one, if the germination is not neat, it will bring some difficulty to the management.

3. Medium: petunia sowing soil is actually more fastidious. Although sowing with planting soil or garden soil can germinate, it will greatly reduce the germination rate, so it is better to choose loose, breathable, moisturizing and aseptic medium for sowing.

4. Sowing: when sowing petunia, in order to ensure one grain per hole, you can dip a little water with a toothpick and then gently dip the petunia seeds on the soil surface. Spray with a spray can after all the seeds have been sown, and be careful not to wash away the seeds.

5. Management: after the petunia has been sown, put the flowerpot in the seedling tray, cover it, and put it in a warm and bright place. Lift the lid every day and spray to replenish water when it is found that the soil is dry. Light should be given in time after emergence.

Planting method of Petunia

1. Soil: petunia is not strict on soil, ordinary planting soil or garden soil can be planted, but petunia is afraid of too much water, and more soil water will cause rotting roots, so potted petunia should use loose, fertile and well-drained sandy loam.

2. Watering: petunia should be watered properly to prevent it from being too dry or too wet. Over-dried plants are easy to wither, and too wet to rot roots. Summer weather is hot, evaporation is the largest, should be timely supplementary watering, to keep the basin soil moist without stagnant water, rainy season need timely drainage and waterlogging prevention.

3. Light: Petunia is a long-day plant, whether potted or planted on the ground, it is necessary to give sufficient light. If there is plenty of sunshine, it will grow and thrive, with luxuriant leaves and flowers. If the light is not enough, the branches and leaves are easy to grow, the flowering is few or the flowering quality is poor.

4. Temperature: Petunia is not resistant to frost, the suitable temperature for growth is 13-18 ℃, and the winter temperature is 4-10 ℃. If the plant growth stops below 4 ℃, it can withstand high temperature above 35 ℃ in summer.

5. Fertilization: petunia needs continuous nutrition in order to bloom continuously during the long flowering period, and thin fertilizer should be applied frequently in the early stage of seedling growth. Potted flowers are produced in winter, compound fertilizer is applied frequently from March to April, and nitrogen fertilizer is applied appropriately according to the growth situation.

6. Insect pests: the diseases of petunia include quenching disease, stem rot, etc., and insect pests include Plutella xylostella, aphids, leaf roll moth and so on. The quenching disease can be controlled with chlorothalonil and methyl topiramate 800 / 1000 times.

7. Pruning: petunia seedlings are coring when they grow to about 10 cm high, which promotes their germinating lateral branches to blossom more. If there is no need to leave seed after each flower fade, the residual flowers should be cut off in time, and the branches should be cut short, and the lateral branches can continue to germinate and bloom continuously.
