Where can I get lavender seeds?

Lavender seeds are usually available at flower-and-bird markets or online. Lavender grasslands are produced along the Mediterranean coast, all over Europe and the islands of Oceania. Seed propagation and cutting propagation can be used in production. Lavender has the advantages of fast propagation, developed root system and strong seedlings, but it has great variation and high seed price. Lavender cutting propagation can maintain the good quality of the female parent, strong adaptability, spring and autumn can be carried out, and the management is more convenient, the whole seedling stage does not need fertilization, so it is widely used in production.

Cultivation conditions of lavender

1, temperature: lavender is semi-heat-resistant, cool, warm in winter and cool in summer, the suitable temperature for growth is 15: 25 ℃, it can grow at 5: 30 ℃, the top stems and leaves are withered and yellow higher than 38: 40 ℃ for a long time, and dormancy begins when the northern winter is below 0 ℃ for a long time.

2. Moisture: lavender is a kind of plant that likes drying and does not need much water. It needs more water in the green and bud stage, less in the flowering stage, suitable in the fruiting stage, and should be irrigated or covered with snow in the winter dormancy period.

3. Sunshine: lavender is a long sunshine plant. Sufficient sunshine is required in the growth and development period. Sunshine hours are required to be more than 2000 hours throughout the year. If the plant is in a damp environment, it will underdevelop and age quickly.

4. Soil: lavender has developed root system, fertile soil with deep, loose, good air permeability and rich in silicon and calcium, acidic or alkaline soil and plots with heavy viscosity, poor drainage or high groundwater level should not be planted.

How to plant lavender seeds?

1, sowing time: lavender try not to sow seeds out of season, because lavender is not heat-resistant, the best sowing season is spring, of course, autumn sowing is also possible, and the best seed germination temperature is 15-20 ℃.

2, container choice: lavender seeds can be sown in small flowerpots or other containers, such as yogurt boxes, disposable plastic cups and so on.

3. Soil configuration: the soil used for lavender sowing needs to be loose, permeable, high water holding capacity and fully sterilized. Vermiculite, peat, water moss, perlite, serpent sawdust and other mixed soil can be used.

4. Seed treatment: the seeds of lavender should be dried before sowing, soaked in 30 ℃ warm water for 12 hours, soaked in concentrated sulfuric acid for 5 minutes, and finally washed and dried with water before sowing.

5. Sowing method: when lavender was sown in April, 2-3 seeds could be sowed in each container, and a strong one was left after budding according to the growth status of seedlings. The lowest temperature of seed germination was 8: 12 ℃, and the optimum temperature was 20: 25 ℃.

6. Soak and water: soak the flowerpot in water after sowing lavender seeds (the water level reaches the waist of the flowerpot), let the flowerpot absorb water from the bottom, and the pot can be taken out in a few minutes.

7. Post-sowing management: lavender seeds had better be placed in a cool place before germination. Generally, lavender seeds can germinate in about 5-10 days. After germination, lavender can be moved to a bright place for maintenance.
