Propagation methods of Maple

1. Cutting: Maple cuttings are generally carried out from June to July. Strong branches of the same year are selected as cuttings, dipped in 1000ppm naphthalene acetic acid powder and inserted into the matrix of vermiculite or perlite and pond mud. After that, pay attention to shading, spray and moisturize, and take root in about one month.

2. Sowing: the suitable time for maple sowing is from mid-March to mid-April, and low temperature sand storage will be carried out before sowing. When sowing, first fill the border with enough bottom water, wait for the water to seep down and then sow, and then cover 0.5 cm of fine soil after sowing. Generally, the seedlings will emerge in about 15-20 days.

3. Grafting: 2 ~ 4-year-old Acer mongolica seedlings are used as rootstocks, cutting should be carried out from March to April, and grafting should be carried out during the Meiyu season from May to June. Bud grafting is the best time from late May to late June and from late August to late September.

The planting method of Maple

1. Land selection and land preparation: Maple trees should choose wasteland or sloping land with deep soil layer, fertile soil layer and good drainage, banded land preparation for gentle slope land, burrow soil preparation for woodland with thinner soil layer and steeper slope, and soil preparation in March for spring afforestation. July-August is better for autumn afforestation.

2. Planting density: Maple seedlings choose 2-year-old seedlings with developed roots or 4-5-year-old grafted seedlings, because the lateral branches of maples are well developed and the stem shape is poor, so the planting density should not be too thin, usually about 333 plants / mu.

3. Timely planting: Maple trees can be planted in early spring or late autumn and early winter. It is better to cut off roots, hurt roots and excessively long roots before planting, and plant them in accordance with the requirements of "three burial, two steps and one seedling". Root water can be irrigated where there are conditions after planting.

4. Loosening soil and weeding: the young maple forest period loosens soil and weeds twice a year, the first time in late April and the second in early August, and expands the tree hole from the planting hole to promote the growth of root system.

5. Fertilization management: from early May to early August, maple trees were topdressing available nitrogen fertilizer for 2 or 3 times, supplemented with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, winter fertilizer dominated by organic fertilizer was applied in late September, and base fertilizer was applied to adult trees in dormant period. soil topdressing was carried out in the growing period.

6. Shaping and pruning: the winter pruning of maple is carried out from the defoliation in late autumn to the sprouting in the following spring, which is suitable in early spring. The methods include cutting, thinning, retraction, flat stubble, etc., and the summer shearing is carried out after germination to before defoliation in autumn. The methods include sprouting and sprouting, coring, taking branches and pulling branches and so on.

7. pest control: the common diseases of maple are brown spot and powdery mildew. When the disease occurs, it is sprayed with 50% carbendazim wettable powder 800-1000 times. The main pests are yellow thorn, bare-shouldered longicorn beetles and so on, which can be controlled by spraying drugs and putting poison bait.
