Cabbage moss is one of the important vegetable varieties during autumn and winter. It refers to the moss extracted from the core of cabbage in spring and eaten at the tip of the moss. It is cultivated all over the country, especially in Hunan, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi and other places. It is generally sown in autumn and listed in early winter. Let's take a look at the planting techniques of cabbage moss.

Variety selection

According to local consumption and geographical climate, the varieties needed are generally precocious varieties, such as early moss 30 (very early maturing cabbage moss variety), early moss 40 (the purest and softest variety to eat), early moss 50 (middle and late maturing cabbage moss variety), yellow moss 30 (very precocious cabbage moss variety) and so on.

Cultivate strong seedlings

Chinese cabbage is generally sown and raised seedlings in the Yangtze River basin from mid-August to mid-October. The area of seedbed is 15 square meters per mu, and the amount of seed is about 150 grams. Can also be live broadcast, 500 grams per mu of seed. After emergence, it is appropriate to time seedlings, get rid of miscellaneous seedlings, weak seedlings, diseased seedlings, keep the distance between about 5 cm.

Reasonable close planting

About 20 days after sowing, when the seedlings reached 3-4 true leaves, strong seedlings were selected and planted in sunny days. The planting field should apply sufficient base fertilizer, 50 kg of ternary compound fertilizer and 2500 kg of mature organic fertilizer per mu. When planting, it is appropriate to transplant with soil, and the cultivation density varies from variety to variety. The plant types of early moss 30 and yellow fur 30 are compact and suitable for close planting, with about 10000 plants per mu, while those of early mu 40 and 50 are larger and slightly sparse, with about 6000 plants per mu.

Field management

7-10 days after cabbage planting, nitrogen-based seedling fertilizer should be applied in time, with a dosage of 5 kg per mu. After entering the moss picking period, thin manure water or compound fertilizer was applied every 10 days or so to promote the growth of lateral moss. Under the condition of sufficient fertilizer and water, the harvest period can be extended to March of the following year.

Pest control

1. Virus disease

[symptoms] mosaic, with dark green and yellowish patches on the leaves, the plant is short, rigid, deformed, and dies early.

[control] timely control of aphids before the six-leaf stage of the plant, the main pesticides are 40% dimethoate 1500-2000 times, 10% imidacloprid 1500 times, mainly sprayed on the back of leaves and heart leaves.

2. Downy mildew

[symptoms] there are polygonal or irregular macula on the leaf, white frost-like mildew layer on the back of the leaf, brown disease spot in the later stage, and the leaf is dry and early.

[control] attention should be paid to spraying to the back of the leaf. The commonly used agents are 75% chlorothalonil 600 times and 25% metalaxyl 800 times 1000 times.

3. Soft rot

[symptoms] the susceptible site is waterlogged at first, from yellowish to gray, then brown, until soft rot stinks and there is bacterial pus.

[prevention and control] the spraying focuses on the diseased plant and its surroundings, especially the diseased leaves and stems near the surface. The commonly used agents are 100~200ppm agricultural streptomycin, 70% dimethazone 500 × 1000 times, 50% carbendazim 600 times 700 times.

4. Cabbage worm

[symptoms] the larvae gnawed on the leaves into holes or lacerations, and in severe cases, the whole leaves were eaten up, leaving only the petiole.

[prevention and control] the main control agents are Bt emulsion, 0.15kg / mu sprayed with 250kg water, and 2.5% deltamethrin 5000 times.
