Aphids are one of the most destructive pests on earth, also known as greasy insects, honey insects, etc., including all members of Aphididae. A total of 10 families and 4400 species of aphids have been found, of which about 4400 species are seriously harmful to agroforestry and horticulture.

Damage characteristics

Pepper aphids suck sap on the back of leaves, tender leaves, pedicels and fruit clips by adults and nymphs, resulting in yellowing and curling of damaged leaves, short plants, poor growth, and even wilting and death. In addition, aphids are also the transmission vector of a variety of viruses, leading to the prevalence of melon and vegetable virus disease, resulting in a serious reduction in crop production.

Morphological characteristics

Pepper aphids are small, about 2.1 to 2.3 mm long, with great color variation, such as green, light yellow, dark green, purplish brown, orange, some thin spot white powder, head and chest black and so on. In the life history, there are many types of individuals, including bisexual reproduction and solitary reproduction, so it is difficult to distinguish between species.

Life habits

When the aphid population density is too high or the plant aging or poor growth, a large number of winged aphids will migrate and spread, and spread by the wind to expand the damage range. Winged adults have a strong tendency towards yellow and a negative tendency towards silver and white. they live in a warm and dry environment and multiply in large numbers when the temperature is 18: 25 ℃ and the relative humidity is below 75%. The damage peak is in late spring, early summer and autumn.

Prevention and cure method

1. Clean the countryside: remove weeds in the field and its vicinity and reduce the source of insects.

2. Mulch cultivation: make use of the negative tendency of aphids to silver gray to achieve the purpose of avoiding aphids and preventing diseases.

3. Yellow trapping insects: taking advantage of aphids' tendency to yellow, yellow trapping boards were set up in the field to trap and kill winged aphids. The size of the yellow plate is 1 × 0.2 meters, and the yellow part is coated with engine oil and inserted between the rows of chili peppers, 60 cm higher than the plant, 30 pieces per mu.

4. Chemical control: in the initial stage, use 1000 times of 10% high-efficiency Dagongchen wettable powder, or 1000 times of aldicarb, 1000 times of Leibao emulsion, or 3000 times of paracetamol, or 50.5% Nongdile 1500 times, or 47% Lesbon emulsion 1000 times, etc., alternately, once every 7 days, 2 times in a row for 3 times.
