Leek is a perennial root vegetable of Liliaceae, also known as long-lived leek, lazybones, grass bell milk, and so on. It is highly adaptable, cold-resistant and heat-resistant. It is cultivated everywhere in our country. Leaves, scape and flowers are eaten as vegetables, and the seeds can be used as medicine. It has the functions of tonifying the kidney and stomach, invigorating qi, relieving perspiration and astringent. Let's take a look at the leek seed germination in a few days.

How many days does it take for leek seeds to sprout?

Leek seeds germinate in about a week. The leek seeds are hard and slow to swell by absorbing water. In order to make the seedlings emerge quickly, soak the seeds before sowing, start soaking in 40 ℃ warm water, stirring continuously, when the water temperature drops below 30 ℃, continue soaking the seeds for 12 hours, then scrub them with clean water, spread them out for a while, disperse the surface moisture of the seeds, wrap the seeds in a wet cloth, put them in 15 ℃, rinse once a day with clean water, 3 days later. The seeds can be sown when most of the seeds are exposed to the white tip. If the soil and temperature are suitable after sowing, the germination time of leek seeds is about a week.

When will the leek seeds be planted?

Leek soil can be sowed at any time after thawing in the Autumn Equinox, generally mainly in spring. Spring sowing leek in the Huang-Huai River Basin is from the first ten days of April to the middle of April, from December to February in the south and from May to June in the north, the ground temperature is stable above 12 ℃, and the daily average temperature is 15: 18 ℃. The use of strip sowing, dry seeds per mu of 6kg dry seeds, can plant 6000 square meters of vegetable land, immediately after sowing with plastic film, heat preservation and temperature, 70% of the seedlings when the top soil film uncover.

How to plant leek seeds simply?

1. Seedling land arrangement: leek seedling land should be easy to drain and irrigate. Sandy loam or clayey soil where onion and garlic vegetables have not been planted in the past 1-2 years should be ploughed deeply before winter, poured with frozen water, and ploughed at the top of the next spring to preserve soil moisture. 40.5 cubic meters of rotten farm manure is applied per mu. In order to prevent leek maggots, 5% phoxim granules can be used per mu, 10 kg of dry soil and 15 kg of dry soil, evenly spread, fine rake after shallow ploughing, leveling for the border, 1.2-1.5 meters wide and 7-10 meters long, which is easy to manage.

2. Seed treatment: new seeds of leek can be sowed with dry seeds if the temperature is low in early spring. Seeds can be soaked and germinated in order to sprout, and the seeds can be dried for 1 or 2 days before seed treatment. 1-2 days before sowing, put the selected seeds in 40 ℃ warm water, stir hard, remove and scrub them clean, soak the seeds in 30 ℃ warm water for 8 hours, accelerate germination under the condition of 18-20 ℃, rinse with clean water twice a day, and sow seeds immediately when 60% of the radicles protrude.

3. Seedling management: leek seedlings are about 5 cm high and lightly watered to loosen the soil in time. After 10 cm, it can be combined with watering to apply rotten manure or urea for 2 times, and crystal trichlorfon 0.5 kg per mu can be applied with water to kill leek maggots and other pests. Control irrigation after the seedling is 15 cm high to prevent overgrowth and lodging. Weeds should be pulled out in time and controlled with 0.5-0.75 kg / mu with 25% herbicide ether when the seedling height is about 12 cm.

4. Rational planting: Chinese chives should be planted in plots with fertile soil and convenient irrigation and drainage, and 4-5 cubic meters of rotten farm manure should be applied per mu to level the bed. The width of the border is 2 to 3 meters, one group for every three beds. Transplant from late June to early July, cut off the end of the fibrous root before planting, and cut the bulbs into small handfuls. The row spacing is 13-20 cm, the hole spacing is 10-15 cm, and each hole is 6-8 plants. When planting, it is appropriate not to bury the leaf sheath, be steadfast after planting and water it in time.
