Garlic is widely cultivated in various parts of our country, and its fertilization should adhere to the principle of "giving priority to organic fertilizer, chemical fertilizer as auxiliary, base fertilizer as main, topdressing as auxiliary, coarse and fine application, and skillful application of chemical fertilizer" according to the characteristics of growth and development, fertilizer demand and absorption. In order to meet the needs of nutrient elements in the process of growth and development to the maximum extent, let's take a look at what kind of fertilizer to use to grow garlic.

What kind of fertilizer should I use to grow garlic?

Garlic, as a crop with high demand for sulfur, contains a lot of sulfur-containing spicy substances. In the process of growth, the demand for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is the most, followed by nitrogen and less phosphorus. In order to improve the yield and quality of garlic, the reasonable combination of potassium and sulfur is very important. Therefore, according to the basic conditions of the local soil, we should mainly produce special fertilizer with a content of about 40% of N, P, K and S, which is usually made of urea, monoammonium phosphate, calcium superphosphate, potassium sulfate and other trace elements.

What are the fertilizer rules for growing garlic?

1. Nitrogen: the nitrogen uptake of garlic was low during the overwintering period, and then gradually increased, reaching the peak at the bulb expansion stage, and the nitrogen uptake accounted for 30% of the total absorption before the differentiation period.

2. Phosphorus: garlic absorbed little phosphorus before overwintering, and even less when it entered the overwintering period. the absorption of phosphorus increased gradually from the green stage, and the maximum amount of phosphorus was absorbed in the period of differentiation and bolting, accounting for 52.1% of the total phosphorus.

3. Potassium: the amount of potassium absorbed by garlic in the seedling stage before winter accounts for 10.5% of the total potassium, less in the overwintering period, 26.7% in the green stage, and about 45% in the bulb expansion period.

How to fertilize garlic?

1. The principle of fertilization: the fertilization of garlic should be carried out scientifically and reasonably according to the soil fertility and the demand of different growth stages of garlic, and grasp the fertilization principle of "light in front, medium and heavy in the future", which should not only prevent excessive growth in the early stage, but also avoid de-fattening and premature senility in the later stage.

2. Soil preparation and fertilization: garlic should apply sufficient base fertilizer in combination with soil preparation before sowing, applying 25003000kg farm manure, 40kg chlorine-based compound fertilizer and 1.5kg ferrous sulfate, manganese sulfate, borax, zinc sulfate and copper sulfate per mu.

3. application of jointing fertilizer: garlic in the green stage of garlic under normal climate generally does not carry out field management, and the first topdressing should be carried out at the jointing stage, but the amount of nitro compound fertilizer is 20kg / mu and the second fertilizer is about 20kg / mu at intervals of 15 / 20 days.

4. application of chemical fertilizer: garlic enters the period of differentiation and bolting, vegetative growth and reproductive growth are carried out at the same time, and the demand for phosphorus is strong. When the garlic mu (present tail) mu is topdressing 15kg / mu of high-phosphorus and high-potassium compound fertilizer, it will be dissolved and then applied.

5. Extra-root topdressing: extra-root topdressing of garlic should be carried out before 11:00 or after 4: 00 p. M. on a sunny day, soak in 2 kg of common calcium or 1 kg of sulfur-based compound fertilizer in 50 kg of water for 12 hours, and the clarification solution should be sprayed for 1 mu. Foliar spraying can be carried out twice in the middle and later stages.
