Last Updated: 2024/11/09, When planting dahlias, we should first choose the bulbs, so that the roots are healthy and fleshy, and then choose the correct planting method. First deal with the roots, and then start planting. First dig a 20-centimeter pit in the ground, add fertilizer, then plant a ball, and set up a pillar, then fill it with soil, water it, and finally trim it properly.

First, choose the seed ball

Before planting, to select its seed ball, when selecting, try to choose healthy and fleshy roots, so as to improve its survival rate.

II. Planting methods

1. First of all, the dried roots should be cut off. If there are too many bulbs in the root block, it can be separated with the help of a sharp blade, and there should be some lateral roots and adventitious buds on each stem when separating, otherwise it will not survive.

2. After the root block is treated, you can start planting. If the land is planted, you can dig a 20 cm deep hole in the ground first, and then get rid of the stones and weeds inside. If the soil contains a lot of sand, you need to add a little soil fertilizer. At the same time, in order to make it nutritious enough, you can also add some organic fertilizer when hoing the soil.

3. It usually grows very tall. in order to prevent it from harming its root block in the later stage, it is best to put a pillar at its root block at the time of planting, close to the bud point, and fill it with soil and water again.

4. It grows very fast in June. If it is not given a pillar at this time, it should be set up immediately, and one should be set up at the foot of each pillar, but the bulbs should not be damaged.

5. When setting up a pillar, it is best to get along with the root about 5 centimeters, and then find a rope to tie the root and the pillar together, but not too tight.

6. Then, in order to make its flowers more beautiful, it is necessary to remove its leaf axils and small lateral branches in time when budding, just leave the buds under the rhizome, and cut off the residual flowers in time after flowering.

From October to November, it will no longer blossom. At this time, all branches 10 centimeters above the ground should be cut off, leaving only leaves.
