By raising orchids and learning from the elders around us, we can not only learn a lot of practical maintenance skills, but also broaden our horizons. Before raising orchids, the little gardener thought that orchids were raised in soil. I believe that many orchid masters also thought so. after communicating with their predecessors, they found that there was basically no "soil" in the things they used to raise orchids.

1. A wide variety of "orchid planting materials"

The little gardener said that there was no soil, which meant that the plants they used to raise orchids were varied, many of them were made by themselves, such as bark, stone, brick, etc., and the proportion of soil was very small. Next, let's take a look at these eye-opening "orchid planting materials".

two。 "bark" orchid plant

The first kind of plant material is the bark in the plastic bag below. This bark is almost rotten bark. If you take it back and treat it a little bit, it can be used as a good plant for orchids. Bark drainage permeability is excellent, with a little fine soil, and then with strong roots of organic fertilizer, orchid effect is very good.

However, the treatment of bark includes these simple steps: first, boil it, expose it to the sun, sterilize and disinfect it; second, take it to rot and wait for it to be fully cooked before it can be used in a pot. Pot with raw bark, it will give off heat to burn the roots of orchids, if the gardener does not recommend novice florists to try, you can also use bark, buy ready-made bark soil or take it with friends.

3. "pine cone" orchid plant material

The second kind of plant material is the black stuff in the picture below, which you may not recognize. This is the "pineal ball" that has been treated. Take the pine ball back, sterilize and disinfect it, then break it into pieces, ferment it, and mature it, and it will become a good baby for raising orchids. When in use, you can use the formula of bark (2 parts) + pine cones (6 parts) + fine soil (2 parts) to raise orchids.

4. "Stone" Orchid planting material

The third kind of plant material is the stone in the picture below, which are all small stones picked up by orchids themselves. in fact, when raising orchids, it is quite common to put a stone on the bottom of the basin and a stone on the surface of the basin soil. This orchid master uses this stone to mix it in the orchid plant material, which is relatively rare.

Of course, his stone is also sterilized and sterilized, and it is best to soak in water before use, wash it clean, remove the heat, and put it on the basin with large particles at the bottom, with bark (3 parts) + stone (3 parts) + fine soil (3 parts). It is good to use stone pavement above. This formula keeps orchids and basically does not need to control water. It is no problem to water once or twice a day in this season.

It is not difficult to see that no matter how they match, they will use some fine soil to brighten and penetrate the roots, and can correct the flowers and colors, and the fragrance of the flowers will be thicker. Before the owners of the new orchids mix the soil themselves, it is best to inquire like the old-timers of Yanglan.
