How to cultivate a cactus with thick and straight leaves, the thick cactus is very suitable for grafting, you can graft crab claw orchid, the leaves are thick, and the grafted cactus grows well. So how do we maintain a thick cactus?

1. Raise it in a large flowerpot

After the cactus cuttings survive, move it to a separate flowerpot to raise it, and its root system can be fully extended so that it can absorb enough nutrients, and the leaves will thicken and grow faster.

2. The soil must be loose and ventilated.

Because the original environment of the cactus is in the tropical desert, where there is very loose and breathable sandy soil, we maintain the cactus at home, the soil must be loose and breathable, and must be mixed with half or more granular soil. for example, use large particles of river sand or cinder, mixed with half of rotten leaf soil, or peat soil, if not, half of the garden soil can also be mixed.

3. The light must be sufficient.

The growth of cactus needs sufficient light. Be sure to throw it into a place with sufficient light to expose it, even at noon in summer. Sufficient light can make the cactus grow exuberantly and thickly.

4. Watering should be timely.

The cactus is very resistant to drought, but if you want it to grow fast, it must be watered in time and do not lack water for a long time.

5. Fertilization should be adequate.

Cactus is relatively resistant to barren, but its growth also needs sufficient fertilizer. We should fertilize the cactus, and do not apply thick fertilizer to it. We should give it nitrogen and potassium fertilizer, and we must apply thin fertilizer. You can use your own retting cake water, soybean water or some farm manure, or you can use some slow-release fertilizer. You can infiltrate it a little every time you water it. If the fertilizer is too thick, it is easy to burn roots.

If you want it to grow upright, give it a stick as soon as it comes out of the cuttage, let it grow in an upright direction, and break it off in time when it comes out of the lateral bud, so that it only leaves the top bud to grow, so that in autumn, you can get a tall, upright and thick cactus tree, which can be used to graft crab orchid and grow to the roof.
