Wax gourd is a common delicacy on our dinner table, it is covered with treasures, wax gourd seeds, wax gourd peel, wax gourd pulp can be used for medicine. For wax gourd we most often understand that the effect is to reduce fire, beauty and weight loss, so it is loved by the majority of female friends. Let's take a look at when the wax gourd is sown and its planting method with the editor.

Planting time

Wax gourd planting time according to different regions of different climates will have a certain gap, generally wax gourd sowing season there are two, that is, spring and autumn. That is, from December to March of the following year, it is regarded as spring sowing, and from July to September is generally regarded as autumn sowing. In fact, it seems that the line has been sowing all the year round. For example, the general sowing time in Guangzhou is January and February, while the Hunan region can sow seeds from December to September of the following year.

Planting method

1. Land selection and preparation

Wax gourd is generally planted in loose and fertile land with good drainage and irrigation. Wax gourd has strict requirements for water. Too much water will lead to plague or symptoms of hypoplasia of wax gourd. When choosing a melon city, you should be careful not to choose any kind of land where any melon plants were planted a few years ago. Many people in rural areas know that if you planted melons a few years ago, you will basically only grow melon seedlings. When preparing the land, it is necessary to make a good ditch for water diversion, drainage and irrigation, and pay attention to sprinkling a layer of farm manure as base fertilizer.

2. Sowing and raising seedlings

Wax gourd is sown by direct seeding and transplanting. Direct seeding means that the seeds are sown with three to five seeds at intervals of 30 to 50 centimeters, and then covered with a thin layer of fine soil to cover the seeds. If transplanting is used, seedlings should be raised first, and then planted at intervals of each plant when the seeds germinate and grow to five to ten centimeters.

3. Field management

If it is direct seeding, you need to see where there is a seedling, and if there is a seedling, you need to replenish it in time, but if it is transplanting, if it does not rain, it should be watered every three days until it grows new roots and leaves. When the seedlings grow to 20 to 30 centimeters long, we can consider that if the land area is relatively large, we can directly let it crawl along the ground, but if the land is not particularly rich, we need to build a scaffolding. Then manually put the seedlings on the shelf, let them grow along the shelf, and this can avoid a lot of diseases.

4. Fertilizer and water management

The management of fertilizer and water at the seedling stage is also troublesome. Generally speaking, three times of fertilization are needed during the growth of wax gourd. The first fertilization is usually after planting. At this time, in order to speed up the growth of melon seedlings, the second fertilization is when the seedlings begin to blossom to a certain extent, and the third fertilization is carried out more than ten days later, which can promote the growth of wax gourd. Of course, the amount of fertilizer used each time is not too much. Otherwise, it will cause melon seedlings to grow all the time and forget to bear melons, then it will be futile work.

5. Timely harvest

If you want to eat wax gourd, you can eat it with about two fists. Of course, you can wait until it grows up, and when the leaves on the vine show a slight yellow aging, it means that the wax gourd is ripe and can be harvested. Do not wait until too late, because by then your melon may be old or bad, that kind of wax gourd taste is not very delicious.
