Each pesticide has a certain shelf life, and it can only be used during the shelf life to ensure safety and effectiveness. Once crops use pesticides beyond their shelf life, they will not have the effect of curing diseases and insect pests, on the contrary, they will cause resistance to diseases and insect pests, delay the best period for the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests, and bring difficulties or inability to prevent and cure them. what is more important is to cause drug damage to crops, resulting in irreparable consequences. Therefore, farmers must prohibit the use of expired pesticides. So, how to avoid using expired pesticides?

See the production date clearly when choosing and buying pesticides

The selection and purchase of pesticides must go to the formal agricultural material units. In the selection and purchase, we should first see the varieties of pesticides to be purchased, and then see clearly the production date and product instructions of pesticides, because pesticides have a shelf life, such as pesticides that exceed the shelf life, do not buy pesticides that are close to the shelf life, and try to buy as much as you can, and buy them now.

Do not use pesticides that are left at home after the expiration date or if there is no conclusive evidence to prove their effectiveness.

If farmers have surplus pesticides in their homes last year, before using them this year, they should first see whether the label is intact and whether they are still within the shelf life. If they find pesticides that have exceeded their shelf life, it is advisable not to use them. When the remaining pesticides such as labels fall off and the varieties of pesticides cannot be identified, do not misuse them, so as not to cause drug damage to crops and cause greater economic losses.

Label the remaining pesticides

The remaining pesticides stored by farmers must have complete bottle stickers, and the words of pesticide product name, batch number, production date and shelf life should be clear. If the bottle sticker is damaged, the farmer must write down the shelf life of the pesticide and the matters needing attention in the use of the pesticide and paste it on the outer package of the pesticide.

Skillful safekeeping of residual pesticides

The improper storage of the remaining pesticides will reduce the insecticidal effect and even cause drug damage. Therefore, the pesticides purchased by farmers in that year have not yet been used up, and they are going to use them again next year. In the process of storage, they should do the following:

1. Sealed preservation: some pesticides are easy to volatilize and fail, resulting in air pollution. When keeping, the bottle cap must be tightened and sealed.

2. Keep the temperature: the quality of most powder pesticides is easily affected under the condition of high temperature. The higher the temperature, the easier it is for pesticides to melt, decompose, volatilize, and even burn and explode. Some emulsion pesticides will also destroy their emulsifying performance and reduce their efficacy after meeting high temperature. While some bottled liquid pesticides freeze when they encounter low temperature, form blocks, or burst the bottles. When keeping these pesticides, the indoor temperature should be kept above 1 ℃.

3, avoid light: some pesticides are afraid of light, long-term exposure to light, will cause pesticide decomposition deterioration and failure, in storage to avoid high temperature and sunlight.

4. Keep dry: powders, pesticides and plant regulators can easily absorb moisture and agglomerate. Therefore, the place where pesticides are stored should be kept dry and strictly prevent rain and snow. There should also be windows to allow ventilation and keep the humidity below 75%.

5. Avoid mixing: pesticides are divided into alkaline, acidic and neutral. Basic pesticides include paspalum, stone-sulfur mixture, Bordeaux liquid, etc., acid pesticides such as deltamethrin, neutral pesticides such as Kexian powder, etc. These three kinds of pesticides with different properties should be kept apart and kept at a distance of more than 0.5 meters during storage, otherwise, the pesticides will deteriorate and become ineffective.

6. Rigorous mixed packing: for the endless use of two kinds of pesticides in that year, can not be mixed in a bottle, so as to avoid failure.
