Prevention and control of split stem of lettuce
Lettuce is one of the most common vegetables in China, and its leaves can be eaten as lettuce. However, during the growth and development of lettuce, if it is not managed properly, it will easily lead to the cracking of lettuce stem. Split stem will have a great effect on the yield and quality of lettuce. So how to pre-control the split stem of lettuce? Let's take a look at it.
1. Variety selection
The variety of lettuce is also different for the split stem, and the variety should be selected according to the environmental conditions and soil conditions. In areas with poor drainage and places with large temperature fluctuations, varieties with low water content and less split stems, such as white lettuce, should be selected. In the opposite area, you can choose varieties with high yield, such as purple leaf lettuce.
2. Fertilizer and water management
Lettuce grows slowly at the seedling stage and requires less fertilizer, so it is watered with dilute manure water after planting. Applying about 1000kg farm manure per mu can promote the growth and development of roots. It is necessary to prepare for the expansion of lettuce leaves, the expansion of stems and the accumulation of nutrients, and control the fertilizer and water in the field. During the rosette period, we should pay attention to the application of chlorine and potassium fertilizer. In the expansion period to ensure that lettuce fertilizer and water, because this stage of the demand for fertilizer and water is very large, a little dry should be immediately watered, but not too much, to be moderate. Remember not to water a lot after a period of drought, as this will speed up the cracking of stems.
3. Apply boron fertilizer to the plant.
This boron fertilizer is different in fertilizer and water management because it needs to be applied at a specific stage. The heart and outer leaves of lettuce should be watered with a little water at ordinary times, and then apply about 20 jin of fast-soluble fertilizer per mu, spraying more foliar fertilizer, but when spraying fertilizer and water, it should be timely and appropriate, otherwise it will not be conducive to the growth of the stem.
4. Temperature control
Lettuce is usually grown in the open air, but when it is cold and lasts for a while, build a shed to keep the lettuce warm, as long as the temperature reaches about 20 degrees Celsius. Try to control the temperature during the growth of lettuce, the temperature difference is best controlled at about 2 degrees, so that lettuce can survive at a temperature suitable for its growth.
5. Field management
We should pay attention to check the situation of lettuce in the field, the disease should be treated in time, and pay attention to the weeds in the garden. Burn them together to prevent or reduce the incidence of diseases and insect pests. Fertilization should be stopped half a month before collection, watering should be reduced appropriately, and the harvest time can be determined according to the actual situation and the market.
The above are the pre-control measures for the split stem of lettuce, mainly to control the amount of fertilizer and water used for lettuce. Many friends do not pay much attention to the split stem, but in more serious cases, it may harm the whole mu of crops, which not only affects the quality but also has a great impact on the yield, so we should pay attention to the situation of split stem.
