China is a large cotton producing country, we all know that we can not live without cotton, it mainly produces all kinds of clothes and a lot of household goods. However, many diseases will be encountered in the process of cotton planting, which will affect the quality and yield of cotton. Small pro-agricultural network brings you common cotton diseases and insect pests and control methods.

1. Cotton wilt

Fusarium wilt of cotton is the most common and main disease of cotton. It occurs all over the world. It does serious harm to cotton production and causes great losses. Cotton Fusarium wilt mainly harms cotton seedlings, there are a variety of forms, some leaves appear yellow reticulation, and finally the leaves wither, some leaves turn yellow or purple, but eventually the leaves wither and the plants die.

Control methods: Fusarium wilt pathogens can survive the winter safely in soil and chemical fertilizer. As new plants continue to spread in the coming year, seeds, soil and chemical fertilizers should be disinfected and sterilized before planting. Reasonable close planting and fertilization can be diluted or sprayed with carbendazim at the initial stage of the disease.

2. Cotton Verticillium wilt

There is only a word difference between cotton Verticillium wilt and Fusarium wilt. We can get from the name that the leaves lose water when Verticillium wilt occurs, and the leaves appear yellowing patches. With the spread of the disease, the disease spot gradually expands. After a long period of drought and torrential rain, the leaves suddenly languished and then fell off.

Control methods: select varieties with strong disease resistance, avoid continuous cropping, and it is best to rotate with other crops, which can reduce the occurrence of diseases, spray growth regulators such as Mejiaan in the bud stage, and spray mancozeb or thiram regularly. It has a preventive effect.

3. Cotton aphids

Cotton aphids mainly harm cotton seedlings. Aphids suck the sap of seedling leaves, causing seedling leaves to curl, resulting in abnormal growth and development, affecting florescence and boll stage, resulting in late ripening and yield reduction.

Control method: spray with insecticides that do less harm to plants.

4. Cotton bollworm

Cotton bollworm mainly harms cotton bud and boll stage. Cotton bollworm gnaws on cotton buds, bolls and tender stems, resulting in flowering failure, bract shedding, boll rot and other phenomena, and finally affects the quality and yield of cotton.

Control methods: also use insecticides that do less harm to plants.

The above are the common cotton diseases and insect pests and their control methods brought to you by the pro-agricultural network. I hope this article can be helpful to those who plant or want to plant cotton. The prevention of cotton diseases and insect pests is the key point to achieve high and high yield of cotton.
