The planting area of maize is very extensive in China, and it is one of the most common food crops in China. After corn enters the heading stage, it will enter a rapid growth and development stage. This stage is not only the largest and largest number of corn leaves, but also the best time to determine the weight of corn kernels, and the growth and development of this period determines the final yield and quality. Therefore, in order to strive for high yield, field management at this stage must be strengthened.

1. Timely watering

The heading stage of corn is the stage that consumes the most water during the whole growth period, accounting for 35% of the whole growth period. The heading period is the critical period for maize to change its water demand. If the amount of water needed for maize at the heading stage is not met, drought and water shortage will lead to a substantial reduction in maize yield, serious or even no yield. It has a great impact on the final yield of corn. If the soil is too dry, it should be watered in time to avoid the phenomenon of yield reduction due to lack of water.

2. topdressing at the right time

The heading stage of maize is not only the largest water demand, but also the largest and strongest period of fertilizer demand in the whole growth period. However, appropriate fertilization should be applied according to the growth of corn, for example, those corn kernels are full, and fat corn is usually treated with appropriate nitrogen fertilizer during silking. Because the quality has reached the target, the purpose of applying nitrogen fertilizer is to promote the seed setting rate and increase the weight of corn kernels.

3. Cultivate the soil by ploughing.

The purpose of intertillage is to strengthen the ventilation and permeability of the soil, to cope with the supply of fertilizer and water, to remove weeds in the garden, and to promote the growth and development of maize roots. Soil cultivation is to increase the aerial root of corn, ploughing soil can improve the lodging resistance of maize, because in the autumn wind season, maize lodging is very common. So after topdressing corn, ploughing and cultivating soil as soon as possible to strengthen the lodging resistance of corn.

4. Timely and late harvest

Corn can be harvested late at the right time, instead of being harvested immediately when it is ripe, because late harvest can ensure sufficient time for corn kernel filling. Corn filling is a measure to increase the weight of corn grains, increase yield and improve quality. When the corn is harvested at the stage of full maturity before and after the Beginning of Autumn, when it is found that the bracts of corn turn white and dry, it represents that the corn grain has been fully mature, which is the period with the highest grain weight. Some experiments have proved that every three days after harvest, the weight of 1000 grains will increase by about 10 grams. Without any cost.

The heading stage of corn is the most important period of corn. During the heading period of maize, the field management of corn is the prerequisite to ensure the high yield of corn, and the fertilizer and water needed by corn at this stage should be ensured. Of course, there are also prevention and control of diseases and insect pests, such as stem rot, aphids and so on. If the diseases and insect pests are well controlled, the high yield of corn will be more guaranteed.
