Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Autumn is the peak of root growth of fruit trees, and it is also the key period for trees to accumulate nutrients. At present, there are many ways to fertilize Yantai cherry. When it comes to the essentials of applying base fertilizer in autumn, we should first highlight the word "early". It is generally carried out from September to October, but the effect of early application in September is better.

1. Soil, fertilizer and water management Cherry fruit development period is short, need nutrient concentration, pay attention to pre-flowering, fruit development period and after fruit picking, autumn topdressing, the first time to nitrogen fertilizer mainly combined with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, the second time to phosphorus and potassium fertilizer mainly, after fruit picking to compound fertilizer mainly, can also apply decomposed human excrement, decomposed bean cake water (soil miscellaneous fertilizer to autumn application is good), this fertilization is conducive to flower bud differentiation, improve the yield of the next year. Irrigation should be carried out after fertilization, from flowering to fruit ripening, if the weather is dry, pay attention to irrigation to ensure adequate water supply, and pay special attention to drainage in rainy season. 2. The main technical measures of summer pruning of cherry include picking, twisting, taking branches, thinning branches, etc. Summer pruning is used to weaken the growth potential of branches, promote the formation of short branches and fruit early.① Thinning branches is mainly carried out after fruit picking, thinning out large branches and over-dense twigs that affect ventilation and light transmission and have no reserve value, and improving ventilation and light transmission conditions. 2. Topping should start from the middle of May, leaving 5~7 leaves for every 20~ 25cm long on the back branch once, extending the head of the main branch, leaving 40cm for every 50~ 60cm long on the lateral branch, stroking the branch opening angle on the trunk and leaving 60~ 70cm for every 80~ 90cm long. 3. Diseases and insect pests control of cherry mainly include dry rot, gum disease, root cancer disease, early defoliation disease, root rot, etc. Leaf and fruit diseases can be controlled with fungicides such as thiophanate-methyl and mancozeb. In rainy season, Bordeaux mixture has good control effect; root diseases should be scraped off in time, and 10~20 times of excellent sterilization should be applied for disinfection. Cherry main pests are caterpillars, thorn moths, leafhoppers and pear net bugs, according to the occurrence of pests, spraying mefenuron, imidacloprid, volume easy to clear and other pesticides for control.
