Last Updated: 2024/11/05, After flowering, you should first trim the lilies, preferably in the morning or evening; then reduce watering to prevent the plant from rotting; then suspend fertilization and do not apply fertilizer after flowering; finally, keep warm in winter. The best temperature is between 16 and 24, not less than 5 degrees.

1. Shaping and pruning

Proper pruning can be carried out after the plant is in bloom, but it should be noted that the pruning time should not be at noon, the best in the morning or evening, so that its normal growth will not be affected. When pruning, cut off the residual flowers, withered branches and extra side branches on the plant to prevent them from consuming a lot of nutrients, and after pruning, it will be able to produce more and more beautiful flowers in the second year.

2. Reduce watering

The lily will become very fragile after flowering, so when it is pruned, it cannot be watered immediately, but the amount of water must be reduced, because it will slowly enter a dormant state after blooming, and it will no longer absorb water at this time. If there is too much water in the basin, it will let the roots rot, so its growth will be limited, and in serious cases, it will die. So be sure to control the amount of water.

3. Fertilizing and topdressing

After flowering, you must apply fertilizer and topdressing correctly. At flowering stage, you can apply compound fertilizer once a week, and the best time is once a week, and you can stop fertilizing after flowering, so that it can produce more beautiful flowers and prolong the florescence.

4. Keep warm in winter

After flowering, the temperature gradually drops, slowly ushered in the winter, it can adapt to the temperature is 16 to 24 degrees, must not be lower than 5 degrees, otherwise it will affect growth. So be sure to keep warm in winter, move it indoors, and keep the temperature above 10 degrees, so that it can survive the winter safely and blossom normally the following year.
