African hibiscus is loved by people for its beautiful and colorful hanging bouquets, which can be seen more or less in courtyards, parks, neighborhoods and campuses. Their maintenance conditions are not too complicated, and they can simply produce a large area.

Reproduction method

Because it is not fruiting in China, cuttings are used to propagate. After flowering every year, the nutrients are recovered slightly, and the cuttings are taken in the first ten days of April. When cutting, select mature branches, each section of about 15 cm-20 cm, obliquely inserted in the red soil, maintain 75% of 90% humidity and shade, about 20-30 days can take root, after rooting can be transplanted.

Cultivation techniques

Soil and moisture: African hibiscus is not strict with soil and can tolerate sandy loam, but it is better to plant it in fertile soil. The requirement of moisture is not strict, but not too dry.

Temperature and light: like warm, humid, sunny environment, not resistant to frost. The suitable growth temperature is 20 ℃-30 ℃, the winter temperature is below 15 ℃, the growth is stagnant, and when the temperature is below 3-5 ℃, there is freezing injury. It can be planted in the south-to-north area in South China. When cultivated in northern China, it is only suitable for pot planting and overwintering in the greenhouse.

Soil and fertilization: growing fast, like fertile, moist but not stagnant sandy loam, can withstand the dry environment. Sufficient base fertilizer should be applied in Dingzhu city, and liquid compound fertilizer should be applied once a month after survival. Pruning is carried out once a year in early spring, and aged plants need to be re-pruned. When the ventilation is poor, the lower blade is easy to scorch and fall off.
