Last Updated: 2024/11/05, In summer, we all say that we need sunshade to prevent succulent sunburn, but after shading, after a week or two, we may find that some succulent plants tend to grow too much.

In summer, maintenance of fleshy people say that they need shade to prevent fleshy sunburn, but the shade will be excessive, generally after shade, after a week or two, may find some fleshy appearance excessive growth trend, symptoms are some fleshy middle leaf base white, or growth center a little pulled out, this is really a depressed problem, today to talk about excessive growth and sunshine related problems, hope to spend the summer of fleshy friends helpful.

The essential reason for excessive flesh growth is insufficient light. Although summer needs shade, excessive growth should be avoided. The more flesh growth, the worse the resistance, especially in the early summer, the more difficult it will be in the summer. In addition, in the summer will also grow more meat, often also means that it is not very sensitive to high temperature, there is a need for growth. The best solution for this kind of fleshy growth is to add a little more light, giving these fleshy growth more light resources, such as the edge of the shade net, to enjoy more oblique light (noon light is more toxic, should be avoided).

In our family breeding, due to the shelter of high-rise buildings, the direct sunlight on the balcony is generally about 3 hours, compared with about 10 hours of sunshine a day in open-air or wild meat, the sunshine duration is obviously insufficient. Flesh tends to overgrow under such circumstances. And some balconies, morning and evening can have sunshine, duration can also reach more than 5 hours; exposed meat because of the sun shade net, sunshine duration is enough, but the sunshine intensity is insufficient, this also causes succulent plants to grow.

Light: winter type succulent plants basically stop growing in summer, should avoid direct sunlight, but also can not be placed in the dark without light, otherwise it may cause excessive growth, affecting the appearance. It is recommended to place it in a bright place in the southwest direction, or place it in a place that avoids direct sunlight, and pay attention to ventilation. Temperature: Although the origin of succulent plants is in hot areas, if the temperature continues to be higher than 35° C, attention should be paid to ventilation and cooling. If it is planted at home, it should be placed indoors and kept ventilated. When you are at home, you can open the windows. When no one is around, it is best to leave gaps in the windows. In addition, a layer of white stones is laid on the surface of the flowerpot soil layer to reflect sunlight, which can also reduce the temperature.

In short, green in summer is acceptable, but excessive growth is not so good. If it is not a small amount of fleshy excess, but a collective excess, it is necessary to consider reducing the shade effect of the sunshade net, for example, changing to a sunshade net with a low number of needles, or pulling up the sunshade net to increase the oblique light time. Indoors, you can even consider fill light. Control water after excessive growth is of little significance, but it will make the meat grow long and thin, which is not conducive to summer. Also do not give excessive growth of meat, or control water after long and thin meat, supplement nutrients and other fertilizers, will not make them become fatter, but will make them grow longer.

During the rainy season, spraying water on the soil surface is also undesirable. On a sunny day, the moisture sprayed on the soil surface evaporates due to sunlight, and moisture penetrates into the basin soil as it evaporates. However, when it rains, the amount of water evaporation from topsoil is very small, so it is difficult for water to seep down. When moist topsoil neither evaporates nor seeps, it acts like an airtight film covering the pot surface, making the inner soil more impermeable to air and making it difficult for succulents to breathe.
