Last Updated: 2024/09/19, Zizania latifolia leaves can also cultivate edible fungi.

Workers are planting Pleurotus ostreatus in the Xingnong Edible Farm in Shangbai Hongqiling, Wukang Town, Deqing County, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province on the afternoon of September 16, 2008. Unlike in the past, the main raw materials of the fermentation materials that workers put into special sterilization bags are not cottonseeds and other materials, but Zizania latifolia leaves that can be seen everywhere in Shangbai.

Zhang Meilin, director of the Xingnong Edible fungus Farm in Wukang Town, told reporters that last year he experimented with Zizania latifolia leaves to cultivate edible fungi, and the result was a great success. "Last year, when we tested Zizania latifolia leaves, we used more than 200 tons of fresh leaves in our bacterial farm. This year, I replaced 80% of the fermentation materials in the whole bacterial farm with Zizania latifolia leaves. This alone, we can save more than 100000 yuan in raw materials."

Zhang Meilin's innovation comes from the increasing pressure of raw material prices in recent years. He gave the reporter an account with cottonseed: in the past, it was 5 cents per jin, but two years ago it was less than 20 cents per jin, but now it is close to 70 cents per jin. In the edible fungus cultivation industry, raw materials account for 1 / 10 of the cultivation cost, so the rising price of raw materials has obviously reduced the profit margin of edible fungi.

It is understood that Zhang Meilin's experiment of cultivating edible fungi with Zizania latifolia leaves last year attracted the attention of experts from Zhejiang University. The large-scale promotion in Xingnong Edible bacteria Farm has also been fully affirmed by relevant experts.

Xie Jinyuan from the Wukang Town Agricultural Office told reporters that Shangbai tablets in Wukang Town, represented by Shuangyan Village, Xiabai Village, and Taiping Village, is the largest producing area of Zizania caduciflora in Huzhou area, with a planting area of more than 4000 mu, bringing considerable benefits to many Zizania caduciflora farmers. Corresponding to the prosperity of Zizania caduciflora industry, the "ownership" of fresh leaves of Zizania caduciflora, which is more than 6000 tons a year, is also a headache.

Xie Jinyuan said: Zizania latifolia leaves are generally piled in the fields by Zizania latifolia farmers and burned in winter, which is a pollution to the environment. Now the Xingnong Edible Fungi Farm has begun to popularize the cultivation of edible fungi with Zizania latifolia leaves, which will play a role in promoting the development of Zizania latifolia industry in our county.
