(agricultural Wealth Network) reporters have learned in the market that there are relatively many pesticide residues in leafy vegetables, of which pakchoi is the most serious, followed by Lentinus edodes, Guangdong cabbage, and so on, while melons and fruits are relatively good.

The growth of insects is active in summer. In order to ensure the normal growth of vegetables, vegetable farmers spray pesticides to kill insects, resulting in excessive pesticide residues in some vegetables.

Pesticide residues usually have two forms, one is attached to the surface of vegetables and fruits, and the other is that pesticides enter directly into the roots and leaves of vegetables and fruits in the process of plant growth. In this regard, experts suggest that there are four ways to remove pesticide residues in vegetables, melons and fruits.

One is the method of soaking and washing. First rinse off the surface dirt with water, and then soak in clean water. The soaking time can be controlled within 20 minutes, 10 minutes each time, soaking twice, changing water again after each soaking, and then rinsing with clean water for 2-3 times. It should be noted that the soaking time should not be too long, otherwise the content of pesticides in the water will increase and the content of pesticides in vegetables will decrease, which will lead to the return of pesticides to vegetables.

The second is peeling. Peeling is a better method to remove pesticide residues, which can be used in cucumber, carrot, wax gourd, pumpkin, zucchini, radish and so on.

The third is the storage method. Pesticides in the environment can be slowly decomposed into substances that are harmless to the human body, and non-perishable species such as apples, kiwifruit and wax gourd can be detoxified by storage for a certain period of time (generally stored for more than 15 days). At the same time, it is recommended not to eat freshly picked unpeeled fruit immediately.

The fourth is heating method. Commonly used in celery, spinach, Chinese cabbage, cabbage, green pepper, cauliflower, beans and so on. Wash the surface dirt with clean water, put it in boiling water for 2-5 minutes and remove it, then rinse with clean water for 1-2 times.
