Nitrogen is the main component of chlorophyll. The application of nitrogen fertilizer can increase the content of chlorophyll in watermelon leaves, accelerate the growth of stems and leaves, improve the ability of photosynthesis, and improve the quality of fruit expansion. In the range of reasonable nitrogen application, the yield of watermelon will increase with the increase of nitrogen fertilizer. When the plant was nitrogen deficient, the growth was slow, the individual was small, and the leaf color turned yellow. However, excessive nitrogen fertilizer caused overgrowth of plants, difficulty in fruit setting, delay of fruit ripening and decrease of sugar content.
