Both female and male flowers of watermelon have nectaries, which are typical insect-pollinated flowers. Artificial pollination should be taken in time in low temperature, overcast and rainy weather to ensure the normal fruit setting of watermelon. Artificial pollination usually takes the male flowers on a sunny day in the morning and puts them in a moisturizing container to let them bloom naturally. When the female flower blossoms, remove the petals of the open male flower, point the male anther at the female flower stigma, and gently apply it several times. Each male flower can pollinate 2 to 3 female flowers. On a normal sunny day, it can blossom and pollinate at 6 o'clock in the morning, and finish pollination before 9 o'clock in the morning, and the fruit setting rate decreases when it exceeds 9 am. Artificial pollination is mainly carried out when the second to third female flowers of the main vine are in full bloom.
