Red-bellied Caragana, belonging to the family Ornidae and pheasant family, lives in hidden woods, thickets and grasses in the wild. In recent years, with the destruction of its habitat and excessive man-made hunting, the number of wild red-bellied pheasant has decreased sharply; artificial breeding is still in its infancy and the number of breeding is limited. On the contrary, there is a great demand for red-bellied pheasant and its ecological specimens in the market, so there is a large market for breeding red-bellied pheasant, which has attracted great attention and attention of special experts. The domestication of red-bellied golden pheasant has become the key problem of artificial breeding.

Domestication of adult red-bellied golden pheasant

The domestication of the red-bellied pheasant is generally the direct domestication of the adult pheasant caught from the wild, because the red-bellied pheasant lives in a relatively hidden and quiet natural environment for a long time, and it is alert and easy to be frightened. Once taken captive breeding will hit the cage net, mental tension, easy to lead to its endocrine system disorder, can not feed normally, reproduction. Therefore, the domestication of the red-bellied pheasant must be purposeful and planned step by step according to its living habits, in order to achieve satisfactory results.

(1) first of all, the red-bellied pheasant caught from the wild is placed in a quiet and spacious cage. Although the inner room is dark, some obstacles can be set up in the outdoor activities. Under certain conditions, the wild environment can be simulated and some low plants can be planted.

(2) the color of the breeders and their clothes should be fixed. Every day, the breeders gradually approached the red-bellied Caragana through feeding, water supply, cleaning and other activities, until the golden pheasant saw that the breeder was no longer scared and escaped, and then gradually increased indoor light to make it gradually accustomed to the artificial environment.

(3) to ensure that the food is fresh, palatable, adequate and hygienic. At the beginning, it is best to feed the crop seeds directly, and gradually transition to mixed grains. The red-bellied golden pheasant also preys on some small insects in the wild, so domestication is best to feed a small number of small insects, such as yellow powder insects, every day.

Childish domestication

Using the red-bellied golden eggs collected in the wild or in the breeding place, the chicks hatched artificially and began to domesticate after coming out of the shell.

(1) mix with a small number of domestic chickens in the same batch. On the one hand, it helps to eliminate panic, on the other hand, it makes use of the characteristic of imitation of the chick to make it peck and drink with the domestic chicken, so as to improve its degree of domestication.

(2) before feeding and supplying water, lights, sound and other signals should be given to make them gradually form conditioned reflexes, so as to enhance their habits of cluster activities, make them accustomed to the artificial environment after coming out of the shell, and establish a certain dependent relationship with the keepers.

(3) minimize capture. The color of the breeders and their clothes should be fixed.

From the domestication of adult red-bellied Caragana and chicks, chicks are easier to accept artificial domestication than adult Caragana, and the degree of domestication is higher. However, after a certain period of domestication, the adult Caragana can provide a certain number of breeding eggs. Therefore, the domestication of adult Caragana is the basis of breeding Caragana, and the breeding of Caragana must be done well.
