Hello, Teacher Wu, please ask you something. My piglet died suddenly after weaning for more than 20 days. What is the reason that can cause the piglet to die suddenly? Please help me find the reason. Thank you, Teacher Wu.

Name: Mu Wang Unit: Heilongjiang Tel: 13846945546

Answer: Comrade Mu Wang: According to the symptoms described, it is impossible to determine exactly what caused it. Generally, the cases that cause acute death of weaned piglets are roughly the following: 1. Piglet edema disease: autopsy of dead pigs showed edema of stomach wall, especially edema of large curvature of stomach; edema of mesocolon. 2, vitamin E, selenium deficiency (mulberry heart disease): visible acute hemorrhagic liver necrosis, skeletal muscle, myocardial edema, pale. 3. Salmonella sepsis: hepatosplenomegaly, mesenteric lymphomegaly, small white necrotic lesions in the liver. 4. Clostridium novelii disease: abdominal distension after death, chest and peritoneal fluid, hepatosplenomegaly. Prevention: Antibiotics should be added to piglet feed, and at the same time ensure that feed nutrition is comprehensive. Selenium and vitamin E should be supplemented appropriately in selenium-deficient areas to improve the environment and reduce stress. The above is for reference only.
