It is difficult to identify the male and female of newborn rabbits, but the following methods can be used to identify them: first, the male rabbits with a long distance between the reproductive foramen and the anus (usually more than 1.2 mm) are male rabbits. The closer one (less than 1.2 mm) is the female rabbit. The second is to identify according to the shape of the reproductive foramen. One hand holds the baby rabbit, the other holds the tail with the index finger and the middle finger, and gently presses the skin above the vulva with the thumb to open the vulva to reveal the reproductive hole. The reproductive foramen is round in shape and protruding from the cylindrical protuberance (penis) is the male rabbit; the reproductive foramen is long flat oval in shape, showing pointed leaf-like cracks, and extending to the anus is the female rabbit.
