When cattle eat, the feed is swallowed hurriedly without full chewing. after entering the rumen, it is soaked and softened, and then vomited back to the mouth for careful chewing at rest, and mixed with saliva to swallow again, this process is called ruminating. It usually appears half an hour to one hour after feeding. Each time ruminates for an average of 40 to 50 minutes, then intermittent for a period of time, and then start the second ruminant. It is carried out about 6 to 8 times a day and night, and the time of rumination is about 7 hours a day. Ruminating is an important physiological function of cattle. Sufficient rest time and a quiet and comfortable environment should be given in the feeding and management of cattle to ensure their normal rumination, otherwise it will disturb the digestive function.
