Ornamental fish like to eat fresh bait, especially fresh live fish and insects can promote the growth and development of ornamental fish. When feeding fish and insects, you should pay attention to the following points:

First, fish and insects that have just been caught must be fully washed before they can be fed in the pond, so as to reduce the invasion of exotic pathogens to ornamental fish as much as possible.

Second, fresh fish and insects should be fed in time. Fish and insects that have been dead for a long time or have gone bad cannot be fed.

Third, bait should be taken in accordance with the "three fixed" principles of timing, quantity and quality. ① timing: generally low water temperature in winter, bait should be fed around noon; high water temperature in summer, it should be fed before 6 o'clock in the morning; spring and autumn is the peak feeding season for ornamental fish, which can be fed at 8: 9 am. When feeding, try to avoid uncertain time in the morning and evening or early and late, otherwise it will cause food conditioned reflex disorder of ornamental fish. ② quantity: it was moderate for each fish to be fed with a ball of fish and insects equal to its head size every day, and the feeding amount of 2-and 3-year-old ornamental fish decreased gradually. Eating too much or less can easily cause food intake and digestive disorders of ornamental fish, leading to disease. Ornamental fish have the habit of gluttony. Once they take too much bait, they will swell to death because of overeating. In addition, if a large amount of bait is put into the container at one time, and the ornamental fish can not be eaten in one day, it is bound to cause the residual bait to rot and deteriorate in the water, resulting in the deterioration of the water quality, the decrease of pH value and the lack of dissolved oxygen in the water, resulting in the death of the ornamental fish. ③ quality: fish and insects are required to be fresh, do not feed dead fish insects and smelly fish insects.

Fourth, when feeding fish and insects each time, the feeding situation of ornamental fish should be observed to understand the health status and total food intake of fish, which can be used as a reference for re-feeding fish and insects. It is appropriate to eat all the bait in 20-30 minutes.

Fifth, parent fish that have just finished semination and spawning, diseased fish with loss of appetite, and ornamental fish raised in small containers should appropriately reduce the amount of feed each time; sick fish that have not recovered from a long illness can be temporarily suspended as appropriate.

Sixth, during the breeding period of ornamental fish, the filtered water from washing fish and worms can be concentrated in a container. after sitting for a while, rotifers will spread to the surface and can be picked up with fine cloth nets to feed the young fish.

If the fish and insects can not be eaten for a while, they can be temporarily raised in the basin and change the water once a day, which can survive for 3-4 days. Fish pots should be placed in a cool and ventilated place to avoid direct sunlight. When the temperature is high in summer, dense fish and insects are crowded, lack of oxygen and hunger, and are easy to die. You can keep it in the refrigerator at this time. The method is to put the fish and insects in a square plastic plate, spread a thin layer, after quick freezing, then put them in a sealed unbreakable plastic bag, fasten the mouth of the bag and place it in the refrigerator. Take out a piece when needed, boil it with water and feed it. You'd better take the water from the fish tank. After the water temperature of the fish and worm is the same as that in the fish tank, then throw it into the human fish tank, never put the whole frozen fish and worm directly into the fish tank.
