Water fleas are the representative species of fish and insects. It belongs to Cladocera. There are as many as 20 to 30 species, which is one of the best baits for ornamental fish. Cladocera is mainly engaged in unisexual reproduction, also known as parthenogenesis, only when the environmental conditions are bad, it carries out sexual reproduction. Therefore, there are not many times of sexual reproduction in a year. Each cladocera adult can lay eggs about 10 times in a lifetime, about 100 eggs each time, a total of about 1 000 eggs. If it is cultivated properly, the output is still very high. The optimum temperature for Cladocera reproduction is 18 ℃ ~ 25 ℃.

(1) small-scale cultivation in general, fish pots, flowerpots and glass pots can be used as culture utensils. For example, a fish culture basin with a diameter of 85 cm is used to spread 60.7% thick fertile soil at the bottom of the basin, inject tap water until it is 80% full, and then put the culture basin in a place with a suitable temperature and definite light, so that bacteria and algae can multiply in large numbers. Then 2-3g of Cladocera is taken as the provenance, and the offspring can be reproduced in a few days. Its yield varies from high to low due to different water temperature and nutritional conditions. When the water temperature is 16 ℃ ~ 19 ℃, 10 ~ 15 grams of Cladocera can be obtained in 5 ~ 6 days. In the process of culture, when the fertility of the culture solution decreases, soybean milk, rice washing water and urine fertilizer can be used for topdressing. In addition, you can also use the old water from the fish pond as the culture medium. Because of this water

It contains all kinds of algae, which are good food for cladocera, so the culture effect is better. However, there should not be too much algae in the water, and too much is not conducive to the feeding of cladocera.

(2) large-scale culture is suitable for ornamental fish farms. Because the production of commercial ornamental fish requires a large number of cladocera, it is appropriate to use soil ponds and cement ponds to cultivate on a large scale. The size of the area depends on the need. But the depth of the pool should be about 1 meter. 70% to 80% full of water, add mature fertilizer fermented in advance with grass and human and animal manure, per 667 square meters. Fertilization of 500 kg on the surface of the water makes fungi and single-celled algae breed in large quantities, and then put Cladocera adults as provenances. After 3-5 days of culture, a large number of fish and insects can be seen to propagate, and then fish worms can be fed to fish. After fishing for fish and insects, new water should be added in time and fertilized again at the same time. In this way, it is cultivated one after another and harvested one after another.
