Land name: seven floats

Taxonomic status: Acipenser-shaped order, Sturgeon family, genus Sturgeon

Morphological features: the body is spindle-shaped. The abdomen is flat. The body is covered with five rows of bone plates, one line on the back, two rows on the side of the body and two rows on the ventral side. There are often tiny bone particles between the rows of the bone plate. The mouth is located on the ventral side of the head, showing tubular expansion. Lips are wrinkled, shaped like petals, with 2 pairs of whiskers in front of the mouth. On the ventral side of the kiss, there are seven verrucous protuberances in front of the beard, hence the name seven floats. The tail is crooked. Dorsal fin 38-55; anal fin 21-30; dorsal bone plate 11-17; lateral bone plate 32-47; ventral plate 7-14. The back is dark brown or grayish brown. The abdomen is silver.

Ecological habits: animals feed on fishes, and adults feed on aquatic insects, molluscs and benthic crustaceans. The domesticated Sturgeon Amur Sturgeon can be eaten with artificial compound feed. The opening feeding water temperature is 4 ℃, and the optimum feeding water temperature is 18: 22 ℃. The age of 9 ~ 10 years old is sexually mature, and the weight of mature individuals is about 6kg.

Geographical distribution: distributed in Heilongjiang River system. It was introduced into Ningxia in the 1990s.

Economic value: valuable edible economic fish.
