How to raise eel well in autumn and winter

Eel is a kind of semi-hibernating fish. when the temperature is below 15 ℃, the eel will not eat and go into hibernation by micro-breathing. Therefore, after entering autumn, the temperature drops gradually, and the foraging and activity of eels also gradually weakens. At this time, it is necessary to strengthen the management of autumn and winter. The main measures are as follows:

First, increase the feed with high fat content

This allows eels to accumulate more fat for consumption when they stop eating and hibernating. The feeds with high fat content include silkworm pupa, earthworms, fly maggots and so on.

Second, reasonable capture and listing

Eels like to drill into the mud at the bottom of the pond, especially when the temperature drops, they will drill into the mud for the winter. For this reason, adult eels should be reasonably captured and listed before the beginning of winter. When catching, you should first drain the pool water, remove the surface mud, and then use both hands to catch the mud at the bottom of the pool. To avoid using shovels, shovels and other hard sharp tools to dig deep, in order to prevent shoveling or bruising eels. At the same time, attention should be paid to catching the big and keeping the small in order to lay eggs and reproduce in the coming year.

Third, strengthen protection against overwintering

For eel ponds with better water sources, the deep-water overwintering method can be used, that is, to maintain a water layer of 50 cm-70 cm deep in the pool, and put some water plants and duckweed on the surface of the water. When it freezes in winter, the ice layer is breathable. In this way, not only the bottom temperature can be maintained, but also the oxygen content of the pool water can be maintained. When the eel begins to hibernate, let the pool water dry for the winter. However, it should be noted that the pond soil should be kept moist and not too dry, and the pond soil should be covered with a plastic net to prevent cats, dogs and other animals from preying on eels. In case of severe cold and freezing, the surface of the pool should be covered with a layer of straw or other culms to keep warm and prevent freezing. When the temperature rises above 15 ℃ in the first spring of next year, the eel should be fed in time to promote the growth of eel.
