Yellow head disease of straw shrimp

Etiology: caused by baculovirus (YBV) infection called yellow head virus.

Symptoms and pathology: the main symptoms are: the body color is white, Gill and hepatopancreas are light yellow.

Epidemic situation: a kind of yellow head virus is very serious in shrimp culture in Thailand, and a similar disease (Yellow Head Disease-like Virus,YHD) has occurred in Japanese shrimp culture in Taiwan in recent years.

Diagnostic methods: a large number of inclusion bodies in round basophilic cytoplasm can be seen by HE staining of Gill, subcutaneous tissue and tissue sections of dying shrimp, which can be diagnosed by RT-PCR, Westen blot or nucleic acid probe.
