Causes and prevention of infertility or litter loss in sows

Many breeders are often sad about the infertility or litter size of their sows, but there is nothing they can do about it. In fact, through specific analysis, it is not difficult for us to find the reason. As long as corresponding measures are taken, these problems can be solved.

First, poor feeding and management, extreme malnutrition, lack of energy, protein, essential amino acids and vitamins, feeding moldy and rotten feed; sows are overfed, causing ovarian degeneration, and so on. In this case, it can be solved step by step as long as the feed management conditions are improved.

The second is the defect of sow itself and the problem of epidemic disease.

(1) disturbance of reproductive organs in sows. If the shape and position of the cervix is abnormal, which hinders the sperm from entering the uterus, resulting in infertility, this kind of sow can not be reserved for breeding.

(2) disease factors. Such as uterine inflammation, vaginitis, common pus outflow, there is a bad smell, flushing the uterus can get better results. The method is: first rinse the uterus with normal saline, discharge the pus, and then inject penicillin (200000 units dissolved in 20 ml distilled water) or streptomycin (1 gram dissolved in 20 ml distilled water), generally repeated 3 ~ 4 times, the pus can be completely removed. Sows with long-term estrus may suffer from ovarian diseases, infectious diseases or serious parasites may also cause infertility, these diseases are expected to achieve certain results through veterinary diagnosis and treatment.

The cause of the boar. Boars have poor semen quality due to genetic reasons or improper feeding and management, or illness, resulting in infertility or low yield with mating sows.

And there are man-made reasons. It is mostly caused by the improper operation of artificial insemination technology, and obvious results can be achieved after improving the strict operation rules of the technology.
