Snowfall has many effects on vegetable production in greenhouse. One is mechanical damage. Due to the gravity of the snow, the snow is too thick, which can often overwhelm the greenhouse with a weak structure. It is estimated that when the snow thickness is about 20 cm, the snow can reach 25 kilograms per square meter, and the snow pressure on the roof of the greenhouse can reach 13 tons per mu. Such a heavy burden is difficult to support for simple greenhouses such as bamboo and wood structures, and it is easy to cause damage. The second is the lack of light. There is no sunshine in the snowy day itself, and in order to keep warm in the shed, several layers of grass mulch and other mulch have to be covered outside the shed, so that the light in the shed is seriously insufficient and photosynthesis cannot be carried out. Third, frost injury. As the saying goes, "it doesn't cool when it snows." It is often accompanied by low temperature after snowfall, and vegetables in greenhouse are easy to suffer frost damage due to improper management.

The simple greenhouse with improved greenhouse structure is easy to collapse by snow, so it is appropriate to replace the greenhouse with steel bar and concrete skeleton structure in time. If bamboo and plastic pipe frames are used, the load capacity should be carefully tested and the arch design should be adopted to enhance the supporting capacity. At the same time, the roof should have a certain slope to make it not easy to snow.

In time to sweep the snow during the day, cover the Reed, cover it with grass, and remove the snow immediately after the snow stops; snow at night, sweep the snow in time after the snow stops the next morning, and keep the cover dry. When the snow is particularly heavy, no matter during the day or at night, we should sweep along with it to prevent the snow from being too thick and pressing across the greenhouse.

Strengthen the management of mulch, remove the mulch in time after snow to make the seedlings see light, continuous overcast and snowy weather and then suddenly clear up, after removing the mulch, pay attention to observe the changes of seedlings, find wilting, immediately cover it with Reed hair, uncover it after recovery, wilt again, so repeatedly, after 2-3 days, it can be transferred to normal management; if uncovered, it is easy to cause "inverted seedlings".

Pay attention to ventilation if you encounter cloudy and snowy weather for more than 3 consecutive days, because the respiratory consumption of vegetables is greater than photosynthesis, a large amount of harmful gases such as carbon dioxide will be accumulated in the shed, and the headwind should be released for 1-2 hours during the period of high noon temperature.

Using snow water skillfully and melting snow water, the content of nitride in snow water is 4 times higher than that of Rain Water of the same volume, the content of heavy water is 1 × 4 less than that of ordinary water, and the content of toxic and harmful substances such as phenol and mercury is also less than that of ordinary water. Heavy water is a kind of radioactive material, which has a strong inhibitory effect on all kinds of life processes, so it is called "stagnant water". Soaking seeds and watering vegetables with snow water instead of ordinary water can greatly reduce the harm of heavy water and increase the yield of vegetables. According to the experiment, the germination rate of cucumber seeds soaked in snow water is 40% higher than general; watering cucumber seedlings with snow water can double the yield.
