The hot and humid weather in summer has a great impact on the normal life of cattle, which speeds up the breathing of cattle, increases their body temperature, decreases their appetite, and often appears the phenomenon of "thin summer". Some cattle farmers make full use of the advantage of more green fodder at this time, only feeding grass to cattle, not hay, trying to speed up the growth rate of cattle and reduce costs. Because the green feed is fresh, succulent and palatable, cattle often suffer from gastrointestinal discomfort or overload due to overeating, resulting in diarrhea. Therefore, the amount of green feed in the diet of cattle should gradually increase, and then feed mainly with green feed after slowly adapting to the gastrointestinal tract of cattle, instead of suddenly feeding all the cattle with green feed.

It is worth noting that cattle are ruminants, and even when there is a lot of green fodder, they should add some hay of better quality to their diet.
