Broken beak, commonly known as mouth-cutting. I have supervised the chicken farm for two years, mainly because the density of the flock is high, and the chickens tend to peck the anus, toes and feathers (especially the tail) of other chickens, resulting in injuries and poor appearance (bald tail), affecting sales.

The first effective way to prevent chicken pecking is to cut off the beak of the chicks. Second, with a reasonable diet, the ratio of amino acids to vitamins in the diet is as follows: methionine more than 0.7%, tryptophan more than 0.2%, lysine more than 1%, leucine more than 1.4%, cystine more than 0.35%, vitamin B2, 2.6 mg per kilogram of feed, vitamin B6, 2.6 mg, vitamin A1200 international units, vitamin D3110 international units, etc.

[prevention and control measures]

(1) cut off the beak of the chicken at the right time. In general, the chicks cut off their beaks at the age of 7-9 days, and then trimmed all or some of them according to the specific conditions before and after 70 days of age. when the adult chickens without beak breaking developed pecking habit, they could cut off their beaks in time.

(2) the feeding density should be relatively loose, the brightness of artificial lighting should not be too strong, and pay attention to the hygiene and ventilation conditions of the chicken house, in order to provide a comfortable environment for chickens.

(3) the laying box of laying hens should be sufficient. Generally, one laying box can be set up for every 4 to 5 hens. The egg box should be of the same style and placed in a more secluded and dimly lit place.

(4) the nutritional composition of the feed should be comprehensive, sufficient and can not be fed with a certain feed alone, especially some important amino acids, trace elements and vitamins.

(5) once pecking fetish is found in the flock, the hated chickens should be isolated immediately and those who are seriously pecked should be eliminated. At the same time, find out the cause and eliminate it. Some drugs or nutrients to stop pecking can be added to the feed, such as adding 2%-3% raw gypsum powder to the feed and feeding it for about half a month. To stop anal pecking, you can increase the salt content in the feed to 2%, feed it for 2 to 4 days, and ensure adequate drinking water, but do not add salt to drinking water.

(6) when the anus pecking habit is more serious, the chickens can also be temporarily shut up in the henhouse, put on a red light bulb, and the windows are pasted with red paper, so that everything in the house is red, and the red of the anus is not conspicuous. After the pecking habit has subsided in a few days, and then return to normal feeding.
