Chronic small intestinal coccidiosis in chickens often occurs in older chickens. The diseased chicken has pale crown and beard, anemia, gradual loss of appetite, progressive emaciation, loose and filthy feathers, drainage-like dung, and contains undigested feed, or rotten sugar shit, resulting in a strong appetite for drinking. The sick chicken had weak feet, could not stand up, and finally died of exhaustion.
