Last Updated: 2024/09/20, Dishui Guanyin and taro are both plants of the family Araceae, so they are somewhat similar, but there are some differences in careful observation. The most important thing is the difference in appearance. The leaves of the former have purple dots in the center, and the color is darker, while the leaves of the latter are green and without spots. Then there is the stem, the former is long and thick, and the latter is relatively short.

1. Dishui Guanyin

It is a plant of Araceae. The stems on the ground are very strong, up to two to three meters. The height of the whole plant is very high, and some can reach five meters. Most of its leaves are arranged in a spiral. Its petiole is also very thick, with a length of about 1.5 meters. The leaves are leathery, very wide, dark green, about 50 to 90 centimeters long, about 40 to 80 centimeters wide, and very wide.

2. Taro

It is also a plant of Araceae and a tuber plant. Its blade is shaped like a shield. Its petiole is also very long, green or purplish red. It has a short stem at the base, and after accumulating nutrients, it will form a large spherical bulb, called "mother taro".

3. The difference between the two

They both belong to the family Araceae, so they are similar in appearance, as can be seen in the picture. However, if you look closely, you can also see the difference between them. The main difference is in appearance. First of all, there are leaves. Guanyin leaves have purple spots in the center, but taro does not; the leaves of the former are dark, while those of the latter are relatively lighter. Then there is the difference between stems, although they are all very long, but the former is relatively thick and the latter is relatively thin.
