Grafted chrysanthemum

First, let's take a look at the chrysanthemums grafted by others!

Multicolor chrysanthemum

This chrysanthemum tree is really amazing, all three colors have bloomed into bouquets, the technology is too difficult, not only can be grafted, but also have to be able to trim the shape!

These plants have at least four colors, and each one is bigger than its face.

With so many tricks, I wonder if I know your name is "assorted chrysanthemum". It's so pleasing to the eye!

Monochromatic chrysanthemum

Grafting only one color of chrysanthemum is not as complicated and gorgeous as multicolor chrysanthemum, but it is much more beautiful than ordinary potted plants, and it will be even more powerful if you can develop bonsai.

How to graft chrysanthemums in summer?

Chrysanthemum can be grafted in spring and summer, although the temperature is high now, but as long as moisturizing and shading are done, the survival rate is still very high!

Grafting time

It is best to choose cloudy and windless weather, before 10:00 and after 4 p.m., when the temperature is suitable, rootstocks and scions will not lose too much water, and the survival rate is high.

Select rootstock

Chrysanthemums usually use Artemisia annua as rootstock, choose a strong Artemisia annua plant, cut off the upper part of the trunk and excess branches and leaves, and cut them at 20cm above the ground.

Select scion

The top tip of chrysanthemum seedling with long 5~7cm was selected as scion, the larger leaves in the lower part were removed, and 2-3 leaves were left at the top.

Grafting step

The main results are as follows: 1. Within 1-2 hours before grafting, more water should be sprayed on the rootstock and scion mother plant to prevent wilting when the temperature is too high, and the grafting should wait until the leaves are completely dry.

2. Trim the upper end of the rootstock, and then split the 2cm from the center with a two-sided knife to serve as the marriage interface.

3. Use a sharp knife to split the lower end of the scion into a 1.5cm wedge, which must be fast and accurate.

4. Insert the treated scion into the split of the rootstock, align the cambium, and then wrap it tightly with plastic film so that the grafting position will not move.

Post-grafting management

1. After the grafting is completed, water the plant once, put the plant under a cool and ventilated tree or pull a sunshade net, spray water 3 or 4 times a day. The wound will heal in a week or so.

2. After the scion survived, wipe off the lateral buds of the rootstock and move the flowerpot to the sunny place for maintenance, and all the leaves of the rootstock can be picked after 3 weeks.

How to maintain chrysanthemums in summer?

Summer chrysanthemums grow fast, but also prepare for autumn flowering, maintenance should pay attention to the following points.

1. Watering: when the temperature is high, the amount of water evaporation will be very large, which requires a lot of watering. Every morning and evening, it is often sprayed to the leaf surface and around to keep it moisturized.

2. Heart-picking: in order to promote flowering, heart-picking should be carried out when new leaves grow from the top and lateral buds. After late August, stop picking the heart.

3, light: chrysanthemum is a short-day plant, like light, but avoid strong light, summer morning and evening to bask in the sun, noon to shade.

4. Fertilization: if the temperature is too high from July to August, it is necessary to stop fertilization. After September, the plant should apply compound fertilizer every 7-10 days, and thin fertilizer should be applied frequently.
