Orange planting method and management: how many meters above sea level should oranges be planted? What is the best altitude?
What is the planting of orange trees like? Remove any necrotic or broken roots from the seedlings that have been sent out before planting. Sterilize the knife to reduce the chance of orange trees being infected with diseases. Gently pat the soil around the roots to remove air from the soil. The end of the root should be kept in the soil. In order for the roots to grow well, standard orange trees should be kept 3.7 meters away from walls or other larger obstacles and 7.6 meters away from other trees. The mountains planted at an altitude of 250-400 meters above sea level are suitable for growing sweet oranges.
Plant the trees in a sunny and warm climate. Pay more attention to seedlings, they are more vulnerable to burns and other injuries than mature trees, but orange trees grow best in plenty of sunlight. If adult trees are often exposed to excessive temperatures, sunshades or sheets can be hung at the top of the tree before the temperature drops to 38 °C. Move the orange tree indoors before the frost occurs. Although some species of orange trees can survive a slight frost, orange trees are vulnerable to frost threats.
Water the trees often, but not too much. Compared with seedlings, the soil had better be dry before watering mature orange trees. Mature trees are watered once or twice a week, but the watering times vary depending on temperature, humidity and light. According to judgment, the number of times of watering increases in the hot and dry season, and when the sun is high, we should try our best to avoid watering plants.
Fertilize carefully according to the age of the tree. Applying fertilizer or manure to trees can supplement the nutrients needed for plants to grow, blossom and bear fruit, but improper use of fertilizer can burn seedlings or cause other injuries. Use special orange tree fertilizer, or any other fertilizer that is high in nitrogen. If it is a 3-year-old tree, sprinkle two tablespoons (30ml) of high nitrogen fertilizer under the tree before watering it, three times a year. You can also spread 4L high-quality compost in the soil, preferably in autumn, and let Rain Water wash away the salt before the tree is hurt by salt.
Adult trees over the age of 4 years old who live outdoors need 0.45 kilograms of nitrogen per year. Fertilizers are generally marked with a percentage of nitrogen, which can help you calculate how much fertilizer to apply to achieve the appropriate nitrogen content. Every winter, or February, July, September, sow around the roots or water them into the soil.
