Last Updated: 2024/10/07, Jasmine flowers have three main pruning periods, the growth period around Qingming, the August-September of flower fading and the dormancy period before spring. In the growing period, it is necessary to cut too dense branches and cut too long branches; when the flowers are withered, all the residual flowers and buds on the flowering branches need to be cut off; in the dormant period, it is necessary to cut off the long and thin flowering branches.

Pruning time

There are three main pruning times for jasmine. First, during the spring growing period, that is, around Ching Ming Festival, pruning at this time can help it to be faster and more uniform. Second, after the flower fades, that is, in August-September, pruning at this time can help it recover quickly from the weak period after anthesis. Third, in the dormant period, that is, just before spring, it can help it grow stronger.

2. Pruning method

The first pruning requires cutting the branches that are too dense and the branches that are too long. This can make the whole plant grow symmetrically and increase its ornamental quality.

The second pruning requires cutting off all the residual flowers and abortive buds left on the branches of the jasmine to reduce the consumption of nutrients. In addition, for the sick and weak flower branches, the whole flower branches can be cut off.

In the third pruning, it is necessary to cut off all the overgrown, thin and pest-infested flower branches to ensure that the plant can grow more healthily.
