The flowering period of the wild crow is not long, and the flowers are not beautiful. But the period of hanging fruit is very long, and the fruit is bright red and dense.

[Euscaphis japonica] Staphyleaceae > > Genus of Oleaceae

The wild crow Toona sinensis has been hanging fruit since early summer. At first, the fruit of Toona sinensis was crumpled, reddish in color and fleshy in skin, which looked like a grain of dried bacon. The flowers on the inflorescence of Toona sinensis are already very dense, and after blooming, each flower will grow 1-4 follicles. So when it comes to fruit, the whole fruit sequence is full.

When I climb a mountain in Hangzhou, I can often see some wild crow Toona sinensis on the side of the path. He likes to grow on the edge of the forest, the top of the mountain, the sunny side of the hillside and other sunny places, the plant is not high, mixed in the mixed wood forest, if there is no hanging fruit is really difficult to find.

It was only when I went to Tianchi in western Zhejiang that I saw the most beautiful side of Toona sinensis. Due to the better environment by the pool, the whole crown is full of red fruit, which looks like a piece of red clouds from afar.

In the summer of July and August, the fruit of Toona sinensis becomes more and more red and the fleshy skin becomes fuller and fuller. Suddenly, the fruit of Toona sinensis burst open, revealing the glossy black seeds inside. The reason why the raven Toona sinensis is called may mean that the "raven" will come to eat the seeds. But when I went out, my focus was not on the birds, and I failed to observe the relevant phenomena.

In winter, the red fruit of Toona sinensis is hanging on the tree. In other words, the fruit of Toona sinensis looks like dried meat, but it tastes no meat at all and is bitter.

The leaves of Toona sinensis are odd-pinnate compound leaves, the leaf surface is shiny and shiny, and the leaf edge is fine serrated. Although the fruit cannot be eaten, people in some places will eat the buds of Toona sinensis. However, like Toona sinensis and Houttuynia cordata, the smell of Toona sinensis leaves is by no means acceptable to everyone.
