Longhua Nursery, the predecessor of Shanghai Botanical Garden, was founded in 1954 and is famous for its extensive collection of precious bonsai. As early as 1974, before the establishment of Shanghai Botanical Garden, it undertook the collection and cultivation of bonsai and seedlings. It has a long history and talents. It is the birthplace of Shanghai style bonsai, and is famous at home and abroad for its artistic characteristics of "imitating nature and ancient painting".
