01 choose two buds An and B that open at the same time.

Flower bud A: the part where the flower spits dew is the stigma of the pistil, which transports the pollen to the ovary to complete the pollination process. On the second or third day when the bud is fully opened, the stigma will burst, which is the best time for pollination. Too early or too late will lead to pollination failure.

Flower bud B: the yellow exploding head in the outer circle of the flower is the pollen on the stamens. We must wait for the pollen to burst in this way before we can use it.

02 three steps of pollination

Step 1: break off all the outer sepals, petals and stamens of the two flowers (pictured) for use. Break off the sundries except the pistil, leaving only the stigma, as shown in the picture. One is for the convenience of pollination, and the other is that these sepals and petals will become impurities when collecting seeds, and early disposal is beneficial to the collection of seeds.

The second step: directly use the pollen on the stamens of the B flower to wipe the stigma of the A flower. If you have honey, you can rub off the nectar and then rub the pollen on it. It is better to see that the stigma is covered with pollen.

Step 3: if you have crossed, you should take a piece of paper and write clearly that the information of your parents is on the pollinated flowers. This step must be done well. Because the flowers bloom one after another, each of the same flower arrows may be crossed by a different variety, and failure to write down the parents' information will lead to the emergence of "unknown" varieties. When writing information, the variety that provides the ovary is written first by the female parent, and the variety that provides pollen is written by the male parent after, and the format is "female parent male parent".

After pollination, just wait for the seeds to mature. Many successfully pollinated pods will crack, and in the later stage, with the increase of maturity, they will split even larger until the seeds can be seen, so it is best to put a small box under the mature pods in order to collect seeds that have fallen due to pods cracking.
