Last Updated: 2024/11/06, In the post-anthesis pruning of longevity flowers, the lower 2 pairs of leaves should be cut off, the side branches such as poor growth should also be removed, and some healthy branches should be cut off as cuttings, while the growing period should be pruned around the 5cm, and the branches higher than 12cm can also be trimmed off. In addition to post-flowering pruning, pruning should be carried out as far as possible in the growing season.

1. Location

Pruning after flowering: when pruning it, you should first cut off the flowers, and then cut off other stumps and overgrown branches. When pruning flowers, cut off the lower 2 pairs of leaves under the flower branches, and remove side branches such as poor growth or diseased branches. In addition, some healthy branches should be cut off and used as cuttings to grow into new plants. Generally, after flowering, the branches around 3cm can be trimmed, and the healthy branches pruned can be cut.

Pruning during the growing period: when the plant is about 5cm, the new buds at the top need to be removed; the branches higher than 12cm and some diseased branches can be pruned.

2. Time

The pruning time is divided according to the different periods of plant growth, the pruning in the growing period should be light, mainly to cut off some branches that destroy the plant type or are too long to promote the growth of lateral branches and the differentiation of flower buds, while pruning after anthesis should be heavily pruned, most of the branches should be cut off, because the plant does not grow during the dormant period after anthesis, and the consumption of nutrients should be reduced as far as possible.

3. Maintenance

Longevity flowers like a warm environment, generally cultured in 15-25 ℃ environment can grow normally. The amount of water and fertilizer can be increased in the growing season, watering twice a week and fertilizing once every two months.
