Crape myrtle is a precious environmental protection plant in China. People call it a hundred-day red, itchy tree, because at the slightest touch of its bark, it will tremble. This is because the trunk is very sensitive to vibration. It is a deciduous tree of the family Lycopodiaceae, up to 10 meters high. Panicles born at the top of current year's branches, inflorescences are very large, 30 cm ~ 50 cm long, with dozens or more flowers; flowers about 3 cm in diameter, white, pansy, red and purple; bloom every summer and autumn, each inflorescence can open for about 50 days, the whole plant flowering for as long as 4 months. It is not only an excellent garden ornamental flowers and trees, but also one of the good tree stump bonsai species.

Pomegranate bonsai

Pomegranate (Latin name: Punica granatum L.) deciduous trees or shrubs; simple leaves, usually opposite or clustered, without stipules. Flowers terminal or subterminal, solitary or several fascicled or forming Cymes, subcampanulate, lobes 5-9, petals 5-9, wrinkled, imbricate arranged; ovules numerous. The berries are globose, with persistent calyx lobes at the top, and the pericarp is thick; the seeds are numerous, the berries are subglobose, and the fruit maturity is from September to October. Testa fleshy translucent, succulent; endocarp leathery.

Sweet, sour, warm, with insecticidal, astringent, astringent intestines, stop dysentery and other effects. The pomegranate fruit is rich in nutrition, and the content of vitamin C is one or two times higher than that of apples and pears.

The history of pomegranate cultivation in China can be traced back to the Han Dynasty. According to Lu Gong, Zhang Qian was introduced from the Western regions. It is cultivated in both north and south of China, with a larger planting area in Anhui, Jiangsu and Henan, and some high-quality varieties have been cultivated. Among them, Huaiyuan County, Anhui Province is the hometown of Chinese pomegranate, and "Huaiyuan pomegranate" is the national geographical indication protection product.
