Planting of medicinal materials

Different kinds of medicinal materials have different growth characteristics, so the correct selection of soil quality according to the characteristics of soil is a key step in the cultivation of traditional Chinese medicine. With suitable soil quality, the medicinal materials planted not only have good quality, high yield, increase production and income, but also make rational use of land resources and kill two birds with one stone.

First, barren mountains and bald mountains. There are many kinds of medicinal materials suitable for planting in barren mountains and bald mountains. the main varieties are: dandelion, chrysanthemum, Achyranthes bidentata, Scutellaria, Xu Changqing, Fangfeng, Polygala, Cornus officinalis, Forsythia suspensa, Aristolochia, sour jujube kernel, honeysuckle, Chinese wolfberry, Schizonepeta, purple grass, Chuanshan dragon, Fritillaria and so on.

Second, saline sandy land. In saline-alkali sandy land, as long as the soil salt content is less than 0.5%, appropriate application of organic fertilizer, strengthening water and fertilizer management and field management can also achieve a good harvest. The main suitable varieties are: Shegan, Atractylodes macrocephala, sand ginseng, wolfberry, honeysuckle, thistle, hemp, castor, sour jujube, burdock, Anemarrhena anemarrhena, ephedra, cumin and so on.

Third, slightly sour sand texture. The varieties suitable for slightly acidic, mild and neutral sandy land are: Fritillaria, Radix Astragali, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Atractylodes macrocephala, Lily, Polygala, Paeonia, Aster, Chuanshanlong, cumin, safflower and so on.

Fourth, the soil is fertile. Good drainage, loose, thick soil, fertile sandy land is suitable for growing chrysanthemum, Fangfeng, Platycodon grandiflorum, Codonopsis pilosula, perilla, safflower, sand ginseng, astragalus, Radix Isatidis, Atractylodes, Scutellaria, Fritillaria, Cassia seed, Phellodendron, Angelica dahurica, Anemarrhena, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Atractylodes macrocephala, yam, winter flower and so on.

Fifth, drought-resistant land. The main suitable varieties are: Bupleurum, Polygala, Shegan, Radix Astragali, safflower, Achyranthes bidentata, Chinese wolfberry and so on.

6. Clay plots. Suitable varieties are: Schizonepeta tenuifolia, Achyranthes bidentata, Trichosanthes kirilowii, Coix seed, peppermint, patchouli, perilla, cassia seed and so on.

7. Idle plots. We can make full use of idle plots such as urban parks, sidewalks, unit courtyards, front and back buildings, as well as rural houses, riverside Weir and farm courtyards to plant traditional Chinese medicine, which can beautify the environment, as well as economic income, and kill more than one stone. Such as: peony, peony chrysanthemum, ginkgo, Ophiopogon, Eucommia, prickly ash, Chinese wolfberry, burdock, plantain, dandelion, Scutellaria, acacia, Phellodendron, honeysuckle, locust tree, soap horn, cockscomb, castor, mint, winter flower and so on.

8. Less light should cover the shady land. The main suitable varieties are: Tiannanxing, Prince ginseng, Baiji, Baibu, Angelica, Codonopsis pilosula, Di Ding, Scutellaria barbata, Fritillaria thunbergii and so on. These varieties like shady environment, like warmth, fear of light, and have a warmer climate.

The soil is fertile and not sticky. Suitable for chrysanthemum, Schizonepeta tenuifolia, perilla, safflower, sand ginseng, astragalus, Platycodon grandiflorum, Codonopsis pilosula, Bletilla striata, Fangfeng, Radix Isatidis and other medicinal materials.

10. Barren land Suitable varieties are: licorice, salvia miltiorrhiza, pollen, Chinese wolfberry, yam, cassia seed and so on.
