Fertilization for vegetables

Ammonium nitrate and other nitrate nitrogen fertilizers are generally not suitable for vegetables. After the application of nitrate nitrogen fertilizer into the vegetable field, the content of nitrate in vegetables will be doubled, and nitrate can be easily reduced to nitrite in the human body. Nitrite is a highly toxic substance and does great harm to human body.

Ammonium chloride, potassium chloride and other chlorine-containing fertilizers should not be applied to tomatoes and potatoes. After the decomposition of chlorine-containing fertilizer in the soil, ammonium or potassium ions will be absorbed by the soil or absorbed by vegetables. When the concentration reaches a certain degree, it will be toxic to the root system of vegetables and seriously cause the death of vegetables.

Foliage vegetables should not be sprayed with nitrogen fertilizer. When nitrogen fertilizer is sprayed on the leaves of vegetables, after the ammonium ion is in contact with the air, it is easy to convert into acid ions and be absorbed by the leaves. Coupled with the short growth period of leafy vegetables, it is easy to make nitrate accumulate in the leaves. Therefore, it is forbidden to spray nitrogen fertilizer on the leaves of leafy vegetables.

The application of micro-fertilizer to vegetables can promote the high quality and high yield of vegetables, but there is little demand for trace elements in vegetables. Excessive application of micro-fertilizer not only causes waste, but also is toxic to crops and pollutes the environment. The amount of ferrous sulfate should not exceed 3.25 kg per mu. The monthly consumption of manganese sulfate and manganese chloride should not exceed 2.05 kg per mu. The amount of copper sulfate should not exceed 2 kg per mu. The amount of borax and boric acid should not exceed 1.25 kg per mu.
