The Key Factors Affecting the High Yield of Wax Gourd

The late stubble wax gourd generally has a yield of more than 4000 kg per mu, which is suitable for fresh storage after autumn, and the market benefit is higher, but because its growing period is in the season of high temperature and humidity, it aggravates the contradiction between fertilizer and water supply and growth and development, especially whether it is pruned or not. it is the key to affect the high yield of wax gourd.
1. Field selection. Wax gourd should not be planted continuously in the same land, nor should it be planted in low-lying land. More fertile and neutral soil should be chosen for cultivation. The late wax gourd is generally sown from June to July, and the amount of seed used per mu is about 200 grams.
2. Suitable age for transplanting. When the seedling age of wax gourd reaches 30 days and two leaves grow in one heart, strong seedlings with developed root system, short thick stem nodes, thick leaves and no damage are selected for transplanting. Generally, only 800-900 plants per mu of main vines and 400-500 plants per mu of two vines are left.
3. Reasonable topdressing. The topdressing principle of late wax gourd is "light in front, heavy in medium, and replenished in later stage". After the seedlings live, the weight of 20% human feces is about 100 kg. When the melon grows to 4-5 kg, the hole applies 4-5 kg of human feces or 0.1 kg of urea; when the melon grows to 15-20 kg, the hole pursues 5-6 kg of human feces or 0.2 kg of urea. In the future, if the leaf color becomes light and lack of fertilizer, you can apply 2-3 kg of human feces and urine to each hole. Ploughing once when the melon vine grows to 1 meter long.
4. Pruning and leaving vines. Pruning is an effective measure to increase yield and ensure consistency in melon size. Generally leave the main vine cultivation, in the growth to 20-24 leaves, start to leave melons, the previous melons should be removed; two vines cultivated, the main vines stay in the same position as before, the lateral vines should not be less than 10 leaves, and all the branches of young melons should be cut off to facilitate the concentrated supply of nutrients for the growth of young melons, and it is better to cushion melons in time after sitting melons.
5. Auxiliary pollination. Artificial pollination can increase the fruit setting rate. Choose the male flower that just opened in the morning to remove the Corolla and gently smear the anther on the stigma of the female flower.
6. prevention and control of diseases and insect pests. The main diseases and pests of late wax gourd are quenching disease, Fusarium wilt, blight, aphids and grubs. The disease can be controlled with 75% chlorothalonil 1000 times or 70% dimethazone wettable powder 1000 times, Fusarium wilt can be controlled with 50% carbendazim 500times or 20% methyl fumarate EC 900times. Epidemic disease can be sprayed with leaves or roots with 75% chlorothalonil or 50% nail cream copper wettable powder, 0.3-0.5L per plant, once every 10 days. To prevent aphids 55 use 40% dimethoate 800-1000 times or 90% crystal trichlorfon 1000 times. 1000 times of phoxim or 1000 times of liquid trichlorfon can be used to control grubs.
