Growing ginger

The aboveground organs of ginger crops grow well, but the underground rhizomes grow poorly, which is mainly due to excessive vegetative growth and inhibition of reproductive growth. As ginger crops, ginger needs proper control of vegetative growth to promote reproductive growth. Specific response measures are as follows:

1. Scientific fertilization. Because ginger crops grow for a long time, the harvest is mainly tubers, so the basal fertilizer should be applied with organic fertilizer with long effective period, and the appropriate amount of chemical fertilizer should be combined. Before tubers expand, timely application of Gendaling can promote photosynthetic products (nutrients) from leaves to roots, improve nutrient conversion rate and loosening ability, make rhizomes expand rapidly, and greatly increase the content of effective substances.

2. Heavy fertilizer should be applied once in the growth transition period of ginger crops before and after the beginning of autumn (transition period refers to the transformation of ginger crops from vegetative growth of branches and leaves to reproductive growth of tuber development and expansion). The structure of this fertilization is the combination of organic fertilizer and quick-acting chemical fertilizer. With the persistence of organic fertilizer, it can maintain the demand for nutrients in the growth of aboveground organs and prevent the premature aging of stems and leaves, so that the organic matter produced by leaves can be maximized as much as possible, and the downward transmission can meet the needs of tuber development. With the action of quick-acting fertilizer, the tuber expansion is timely satisfied. The amount of fertilizer can be increased or decreased according to the growth of ginger plants. If the vegetative growth of ginger plants is vigorous, less or no fertilizer should be applied and spraying of Huawang No.3 should be carried out to transform the vegetative growth of plants into reproductive nutrition and inhibit the excessive growth of main shoots.

3. Reasonable water control. Pay attention to the water supply during the expansion period of the block to facilitate the rapid formation of underground organs. The water supply should be stopped about 4-5 days before harvest.
